Minecraft: How to Make Regeneration Potion | Game Rant

Potions are among the most useful items in Minecraft, though most players don’t delve into the world of brewing during a standard playthrough. It can seem like a fairly trifling task, with a multitude of ingredients to remember and gather. But potions can carry several beneficial (and some harmful) effects that will ease any run to the Ender Dragon.

For instance, the Potion of Regeneration can be a literal life-saver. Consuming this potion in Minecraft will allow players to regenerate hearts at a constant rate, regardless of how full the food bar is. This can obviously be a great boon in tough battles, cutting down the need to consume several pieces of bread and meat to retain health regeneration.

The potion-making process begins with a Brewing Stand, which can be crafted or, more easily, found. To craft, a player must collect three Cobblestone and one Blaze Rod, which drops from Blazes in the Nether. Once all of these items have been gathered, a Brewing Stand can be made at a Crafting table by placing the three Cobblestone in the bottom row, and the Blaze Rod above the Cobblestone in the center.

If collecting a Blaze Rod proves too challenging, especially in the early game, Brewing Stands will generate in Igloos and Village Churches. Players will also need glass bottles filled with water. One glass bottle will turn into one potion.

The Nether will be a player’s best friend in the potion-making process. Almost every potion begins with Nether Wart, which can be found in Nether Fortresses or Bastion Remnants. Past that, there are a few specialty ingredients that will be useful when making a Potion of Regeneration.

  • Ghast Tear: Attainable by killing Ghasts in the Nether.
  • Redstone: Found while mining underground.
  • Gunpowder: Ghasts, Witches and Creepers can all drop Gunpowder upon death.
  • Blaze Powder: One Blaze Rod will produce two Blaze Powder when added to a crafting interface.

Once a sufficient amount of ingredients have been collected, the next step is accessing the Brewing Stand and simply crafting the potion. Potions of Regeneration only have a few steps, so the hard work is already done. Below is a picture of the Brewing Stand interface, to help aid in the explanation.

Place the Blaze Powder in the slot in the top left-hand corner. This will activate the Brewing Stand and allow for the creation of potions. Place the three water-filled glass bottles in the bottom three slots that have the “Bottle” icons in them. Those do not have to be replaced throughout the entire process.

  • Now that the Brewing Stand is primed, place the Nether Wart in the top, unfilled slot. After a short times, this will create three Awkward Potions.
  • Leave the three Awkward Potions in the bottom slots, and place a Ghast tear in the empty top slot. After this process is done, a player will now have three Potions of Regeneration that have a 45 second effect duration.
  • The duration can be improved with Redstone, which will increase the time to 1:30. Simply repeat the same process as the previous two steps, but with the Potions of Regeneration in the bottom slots.
  • Applying Gunpowder to any potion will make it a Splash Potion, which can be thrown.

This whole process can be repeated as many times as a player desires.

Minecraft is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
