Incredible Fan Art Combines Godzilla vs. Kong With Nintendo Characters

Godzilla vs. Kong is one of 2021’s most anticipated films, as the movie serves as the first big crossover event in WB’s Monsterverse. As such, plenty of eyes were on the first Godzilla vs. Kong trailer when it released yesterday, including those of an exceptionally talented Nintendo fan.

The Godzilla vs. Kong trailer is much of what one could have expected given the film’s premise, as there is a big focus on action scenes starring the two monsters. While it is unclear which Kaiju will eventually be victorious in the film, the trailer sees a few exciting moments pulled from the fight scene, including a shot where King Kong blocks Godzilla’s atomic breath and redirects it back at him. However, there is one moment that caught the eye of @TinaFate1.

Before the text appears that advertises Godzilla vs. Kong’s HBO Max debut, a standout moment of the trailer sees Kong hitting Godzilla with a devastating punch. While many have theorized that this could be where Godzilla takes down the massive monkey, as Kong is out of his element and Godzilla has home-field advantage, the punch certainly sees Kong looking formidable. However, @TinaFate1 saw the moment as the perfect scene to use in their homage to two of Nintendo’s iconic characters.

The Mario adversary Bowser and Donkey Kong can be seen in the Twitter user’s re-imaging of the scene, with helicopters flying overhead and smoke in the air behind the two monsters. With Bowser’s spiked, turtle-like shell and tail making him a solid stand-in for Godzilla, and Donkey Kong’s inspiration from King Kong being obvious, the Nintendo icons look excellent facing off against one another — and fans will likely be hoping for more art pieces like this from the artist going forward.

While Kong and Godzilla will be a close fight on the film, Bowser and Donkey Kong would likely be just as intense. With Bowser’s head on fire, Princess Peach’s captor looks as intimidating as possible, while Donkey Kong’s blue eyes show that he is no slouch and is just as worthy of respect. With Donkey Kong winding up a punch just like King Kong does in the movie’s trailer, it is easy to imagine how this moment would play out if it were not a still image. With @TinaFate1 creating such a great piece of art so quickly after the trailer dropped, they are more than deserving of the praise they have seen thus far.

While some players may want a new Godzilla game to help kill the time, there is no news on that front thus far — only rumors that have turned out to be false. As such, fans will simply have to wait for March for the next film appearance of the legendary Kaiju.

Godzilla vs. Kong will play in open theaters and stream on HBO Max on March 26, 2021.
