Remedy has revealed the various graphical modes of Control Ultimate Edition on next-gen consoles.
Control Ultimate Edition releases next week on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and Remedy has outlined how the game will take advantage of their hardware.
As detailed on this support page, Control Ultimate Edition offers two modes on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Graphics Mode enables ray tracing for transparency and reflections, and targets 30fps. This mode renders at 1440p and upscales to 4K.
There’s also a Performance Mode, which disables ray tracing, and instead targets 60fps. Performance Mode maintains the same 1440p resolution, which will also be upscaled to 4K.
Things are little different on Xbox Series S, however, as the console will only be able to run the game’s Performance Mode. It’s also going to do so at a reduced resolution, at 900p upscaled to 1080p.
As expected, Control Ultimate Edition will also make use of some of the PS5’s unique features. The DualSense controller’s vibrations and reactive triggers will both be supported. You’ll even see Control cards under Activities and Help on the PS5 UI, something only really Sony’s first-party games use extensively.
PlayStation Plus members in most of the world, of course, are getting Control Ultimate Edition for free in February, alongside Destruction AllStars, and Concrete Genie. The Ultimate Edition includes all of Control’s DLC, but your existing save files on PS4/Xbox One cannot be transferred to PS5/Xbox Series X/S.
