There are still a few days of January left, but it’s never too early to start planning ahead. Pokemon GO trainers are still enjoying the final January 2021 events, a few of which actually spill over into the early days of February, but the second month of the year is going to be full of its own exciting festivities, as well as the final countdown to Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto continues and comes to a close.
February hasn’t been the most exciting month in Pokemon GO in the past. It’s often overshadowed by the holiday events that precede it and the looming big summer festivities that are just around the corner. There’s always a modest Valentine’s Day event and a Community Day, but not too much else. This year aims to put an end to that lull and offer tons of excitement by adding a Team GO Rocket event and the first Pokemon GO Tour event on top of the usual happenings.
Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto seems like it will be the biggest event of the month, but the rest of the activities should prove to be pretty popular, as well. Pikachu is sure to make for a crowdpleaser in terms of Spotlight Hours and Team GO Rocket events have a tendency to draw out a crowd thanks to enticing and powerful Shadow Pokemon encounter rewards.
In the month of February, Pokémon Spotlight Hour will take place every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. local time, and each hour will spotlight a different Pokémon and special bonus!
Tuesday, February 2, 2021: Ekans will be in the spotlight, and you’ll earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.
Tuesday, February 9, 2021: Miltank will be in the spotlight, and you’ll earn twice the Stardust for catching Pokémon.
Tuesday, February 16, 2021: Luvdisc will be in the spotlight, and you’ll earn twice the XP for catching Pokémon.
Tuesday, February 23, 2021: Pikachu will be in the spotlight, and you’ll earn twice the Candy for catching Pokémon.
Time to find out why, Trainers! From Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, February 7, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time, Team GO Rocket Grunts will be appearing with previously unseen Shadow Pokémon on their teams. There will be a special Kanto-themed celebration event and Raid Day at the end of February to close out the Season of Celebration.
At this point, that’s every event that Niantic has confirmed is on the way to Pokemon GO next month, but there’s always the chance other surprises will pop up. There are going to be Battle Raid boss rotations and new daily tasks and rewards as well, so be sure to check back in early February for the full list of updates to the mobile AR experience.
Over the next week or so players should begin to learn a lot more about what other events are on the way in February. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
