With the additional content launching in early December, Kate Bishop has been a part of Marvel’s Avengers roster for some time now, with the character getting her own story that’s interlinked with the central campaign. It was the first slice of DLC that made its way to the title following its release, with several other characters rumored to be joining the in-game superhero team in the coming months.
For those who are currently enjoying using Kate Bishop on the PlayStation 4 version of Marvel’s Avengers, Square Enix has recently made it so PlayStation Plus subscribers can bag some exclusive cosmetics for the character. Currently available on the PS Plus storefront, a new outfit and nameplate are available, alongside 100 free credits to use through the title’s in-game store.
The outfit is referred to as the “Touch of Purple” attire and acts as a variation of Kate Bishop‘s base costume, except with what looks to be a lighter shade of purple on her jacket and clothing. Fans have already pointed out that the design isn’t particularly exciting considering it’s very similar to the outfit she wears in the main release. Meanwhile, the nameplate features a colorful comic-book rendition of the superhero, sporting her sunglasses and aiming her bow.
All in all, it’s not the most exciting bundle of offerings, but PlayStation Plus players currently enjoying Marvel’s Avengers can snag it for free right now. The release of the small gift comes hours after news about the game’s next update, which will bring Hawkeye to the title in a battle against a twisted alternate universe version of The Hulk known as Maestro. More will be revealed about the DLC in February’s War Table stream, with the broadcast also primed to talk about the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X ports of the multiplayer Marvel game.
It seems the DLC can’t come fast enough for Marvel’s Avengers, with the game’s playerbase almost completely depleted and chatter about the game quickly dying out. Even back in November, only two months after the title’s debut, it was struggling to pull in over 1,000 players on Steam, while financially, the game hasn’t done nearly as well as Square Enix projected. It seems the team’s hopes rest squarely on the shoulders of its upcoming additional content, which will look to integrate characters such as Black Panther, Spider-Man, and more. As it stands, Marvel’s Avengers is definitely struggling to connect with audiences, so the upcoming Hawkeye DLC has a lot to prove.
Marvel’s Avengers is out now on Google Stadia, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions currently in development.
