It seems that all things Pokemon have been throwing fans curveballs as of late, from new ventures into DLC expansions for Pokemon Sword and Shield on the Switch to interesting new pieces of merchandise to an all-new take on the anime, most notably. Pokemon Journeys has come along with a lot of surprises, but probably the biggest change compared to past seasons is that Ash and his friends travel to a different region in the Pokemon world almost every episode.
While many fans have long yearned for a game that allows them to travel between the franchise’s many unique regions, the latest season of the anime has at least given them a glimpse of what that could be like. Taking Ash and his newest traveling partner Goh to a different environment in each episode has kept Pokemon Journeys fresh, not to mention Goh being one of Ash’s most unique traveling companion’s yet, with a goal to catch every Pokemon, especially the Legendary Mew. While it has been 2 months since fans overseas have seen new episodes of the anime, they can expect more episodes very soon.
The Pokemon anime airs episodes fairly regularly over in Japan, but they have come in batches to those overseas via Netflix since June of 2020. Now, over on Twitter, the official account for The Pokemon Company International has announced that new episodes of Pokemon Journeys will make their way to Netflix in exactly one month from today, on March 5.
Bulbapedia, a crowd-sourced database for all things Pokemon, lists that the newest batch of episodes will include episodes 37 through 48. While episodes 49 through 58 have either already aired or are scheduled to air in Japan, it is not yet known when those episodes will arrive on Netflix overseas. However, it looks like Pokemon Journeys fans are in for some surprises with the upcoming episodes, some of which feature a return to the Alola region, a battle against the massively destructive Legendary Pokemon Eternatus, and even an appearance by Mewtwo.
Fans keeping up with the anime’s latest season on Netflix are excited to see not only Ash and Goh learn and grow as trainers, but the growth of their Pokemon as well. Pokemon Journeys has shocked fans everywhere lately, by not only giving Ash some incredibly powerful additions to his team but especially with the latest addition of a long-time fan-favorite Legendary monster to Goh’s roster.
Though 2020 was certainly an interesting year for Pokemon, 2021 is shaping up to be just as exciting, with the franchise celebrating its 25th anniversary this month. It will be interesting to see what other surprises Pokemon has in store for fans everywhere throughout 2021.
