Treyarch Releases New Call of Duty Story Cutscene for Season 2

The first season of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War included the introduction of Stitch, a new Operator developing Nova 6 weaponry for Perseus. His reveal came in a special Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War cutscene, with the scene explaining Stitch’s backstory and his relationship with Adler.

With Perseus still on the run after the events of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War storyline, Adler and his NATO teammates track the Russian agent to The Pines multiplayer map. There they find Stitch, an old adversary of Adler’s. A cruel chemical weapons expert that has a long history with the CIA Member, as Adler blinded Stitch in one eye to seek revenge for fellow CIA member Weaver, Stitch’s cool design quickly made him a fan favorite Operator in-game.

However, the Stitch Season 1 cutscene ended on a cliffhanger, leading Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans to wonder what the canonical outcome was in the fight between him and Adler. After all, with both characters not seen again in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which begins a few years after Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War ends, players have been theorizing that both Stitch and Adler could be killed in the game’s multiplayer storyline. Fortunately, Treyarch has provided answers as a way to hype fans up for Season 2.

Dropping a special teaser video inside Call of Duty: Warzone, the 40 second clip gives some insight into how the fight played out. A fun blend between cutscenes and in-game cinematics, the teaser shows Stitch ultimately gaining the upper hand. Taking down Adler with a melee attack, Stitch and his group load the CIA agent onto a helicopter. Likely taking him back to base so that Stitch can deliver the same punishment that Adler once dealt to him, things are not looking good for NATO at this point in the storyline.

With a promise that “the story will continue in Season 2,” Treyarch has done a solid job of telling its post-launch narrative thus far. Whether it is Adler being tortured until he gives up CIA secrets or his allies embarking on a dangerous rescue mission, there are some interesting directions that the next season’s narrative can go in. Though this trailer gives no confirmation on Season 2’s weapons, players should get official confirmation on the guns soon.

With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s first battle pass coming to an end on February 24, it can be assumed that February 25 will be Season 2’s launch day. With the date falling on a Thursday, the time that Treyarch usually does its playlist updates, this launch day makes sense — meaning that players only have two more weeks to wait.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
