Overwatch is full of unique heroes to play as, from the movable turret Bastion to Lucio, the support hero that uses music to heal allies. Torbjorn is another one of these unique Overwatch heroes, though a frustrating glitch is making him much harder to play on a certain map.
World’s richest man Elon Musk should be disappointed to learn that his favorite Overwatch hero is not working as intended, with the issue at hand being tied directly to Torbjorn’s turrets. One of the main aspects of the Engineer’s kit, Torb’s turrets shine on defensive sections, particularly on consoles where it is harder to aim at enemies and bring them down. Yet on the Hollywood Hybrid map, Torb fans are unable to place their turrets in one of the best possible spots.
Clearly a bug as opposed to a nerf or rework for Torbjorn, the issue is shown clearly in a Reddit clip from auger282. Sitting on one of Hollywood’s rooftops, a great place to throw Torb’s turrets because of the high ground advantage they can provide, the player attempts to set up their turret on the corner of the rooftop. While this has been a common position for Torbjorn in the past, as the turret overlooks the area where attackers move the payload to complete Hollywood’s second objective, it seems like it no longer works.
Upon throwing their turret in the rooftop’s corner like many other skilled Torbjorn players, auger282 is surprised to see that the turret bounces repeatedly as opposed to opening up and deploying. For several seconds, Torb’s turret continues to bounce in place, making for quite the funny sight. However, after players have had their laugh and made funny comments like Redditor frottingotter did by saying, “boing, boing, boing,” it becomes apparent that this Hollywood glitch is rather game-breaking and will need to be fixed soon.
Not only does Torbjorn rely heavily on his turret placement, but this has undeniably been one of the character’s best spots over the years. While it is unclear if the issue is happening on maps beyond Hollywood or if it is just this specific rooftop counter, a patch that fixes Torb’s glitchy turrets will surely need to come to the game soon. While Blizzard may be more focused on Overwatch 2 at the moment, this funny-but-bothersome issue in the original game seems to be worthy of its attention.
Though the issue is an annoying one, at least the player suffering from the bug got a laugh from seeing it, and it seems that they were not alone. If the bug continues to show up and becomes more well-known, perhaps Blizzard should consider adding a bouncing, bugged turret to World of Warcraft’s Torbjorn easter egg.
Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
