Rumor: Big Xbox Series X News Coming Next Week | Game Rant

Ever since the Xbox Series X first launched, the console has come with a great many quality-of-life features that users are continuing to explore. The amount of feedback given has allowed Microsoft to be reactive in terms of making the console experience more manageable for users. However, there are still a lot of features for the Xbox Series X that have yet to be revealed, and one feature, in particular, may be shown off sooner rather than later.

If there’s one thing that Microsoft has accomplished effectively with the Xbox Series X/S, it seems to be user accessibility features. In terms of game library organization, Microsoft has developed overlays that show players what games are Xbox Live Gold or part of Xbox Game Pass as a way to differentiate titles and free up space. However, in regards to Xbox Game Pass, there is one feature that many fans have been looking forward to.

Jason Ronald, director of project management for the Xbox Series X/S, made a comment last month about how older, Xbox 360-era games would be receiving a double frame rate boost. This will allow older titles to jump from 30 FPS to 60 FPS, and some games could even go as high as 120 FPS. Xbox has yet to follow up in terms of these comments, but in a now-deleted Tweet made by Spanish YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits suggests that news of this feature will officially drop on February 17.

It’s important to note that as of right now, this is just speculation. While Xbox did have ElAnalistaDeBits take the Tweets down for violating an NDA, unless the announcement officially came from Xbox or Microsoft itself, there’s no way to know for sure.

However, if this leak can be believed, then what Jason Ronald said last month could have some truth to it. In which case, it would be very interesting to see how much of a difference a frame rate boost like that could make while playing something like the original Gears of War. Despite most big-name Xbox 360 titles getting ported over to Xbox One, the frame rate remained at a static 30 FPS, so for a lot of players, it would be refreshing to play such a beloved title at a higher quality.

In any case, it will be interesting to see if this leak has any truth to it. Xbox Game Pass has a great deal of selection to offer players and to have the ability to play something like Gears of War or Mass Effect or any of the Batman Arkham games at a greatly improved frame rate on the Xbox Series X could really make a huge difference.
