Oddworld: Soulstorm has been in development for years, with Oddworld Inhabitants hailing it as the true sequel to Abe’s Oddysee. After years of waiting, fans will finally get to play Oddworld: Soulstorm this year on PC and PlayStation consoles. However, those on PC will not be able to play Oddworld: Soulstorm on Steam, as it’s been confirmed that the game is an Epic Games Store exclusive on the platform.
This reveal came alongside a new Oddworld: Soulstorm trailer, showing what the game looks like in action. This new Oddworld: Soulstorm gameplay footage reaffirms that the game will be a faithful Oddworld puzzle-platforming adventure, but with vastly improved visuals. Whether or not it lives up to the high bar set by its predecessor remains to be seen, but fans will find out when the game launches for PC on the Epic Games Store and on PS4 and PS5 this spring.
An exclusivity deal is in place for Oddworld: Soulstorm on consoles as well. Oddworld: Soulstorm is a PlayStation exclusive on consoles, and as such is currently only announced for release on the PS4 and PS5 at the time of this writing.
Oddworld: Soulstorm‘s Epic Games Store exclusivity was announced during the Epic Games Store Spring Showcase event, which also included some other big announcements. As it turns out, the Kingdom Hearts series is coming to PC for the first time, and as is the case with Oddworld: Soulstorm, the games will be timed-exclusives for the Epic Games Store. It seems that, despite some backlash over Epic Games Store exclusivity over the past few years, the platform will continue to pursue exclusivity deals for the foreseeable future.
Oddworld: Soulstorm launches spring 2021 for PC, PS4, and PS5.
