Destiny 2 contains a plethora of Exotic weapons to fill every possible role and give eager Guardians something to work toward. While weapons like the Dead Man’s Tale and the Mida Multi-Tool are excellent Exotic Scout Rifles, many Guardians will always have a place in their hearts for the Jade Rabbit. This is partially down to the weapon’s unique look, all compact lines, and a very sleek design.
For others, it is a perk called The Fate of All Fools that makes the Jade Rabbit stand out. The Fate of All Fools gives the weapon increased precision shot damage and will return ammo to the magazine if the players chains some body shots before landing a precision hit. This allows players to achieve crisp three-shot kills in Crucible matches with two shots to the body and then a third to the head. It can lead enemies into a false sense of security when they take those first two shots, leaving themselves exposed and letting the final shot finish them off when they should have been running for cover.
Getting the Jade Rabbit in Destiny 2 boils down to luck, more than any other factor. The Jade Rabbit does not have any associated quest, unlike weapons such as The Lament, and no set activity that it can drop from. Instead, it is an Exotic Engram drop, which means it can drop from any Exotic Engram that players are lucky enough to get while playing. Exotic Engrams can randomly drop while playing through Destiny 2’s many activities, killing powerful enemies, or as rewards from the Season Pass.
One of the best sources for Exotic rewards is running Nightfalls. Players should choose the highest difficulty that they can manage to ensure the best chance of getting an Exotic reward. Running with a team of friends is also beneficial, as it allows players to plan their tactics, generate lots of Orbs of Power, and work together to finish the Nightfall as fast as possible. The trick to getting Exotic Engram rewards is to quickly finish these high difficulty activities and repeatedly grind the missions to ensure the most chances to get the desired weapon or armor piece.
It should be noted that some players will find the benefits of the Jade Rabbit to feel counterintuitive. If the idea of not instantly aiming for the head seems wrong, a Sniper Rifle such as the Frozen Orbit might suit their playstyle more. The Jade Rabbit is also a relatively poor option for most PvE activities in the game, lacking the punch required to really standout amongst the rest of Destiny 2’s arsenal.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
