The second week of Season of the Chosen proved to be another big one as Bungie unleashed a new exotic quest on players. The scout rifle known as Dead Man’s Tale became available at reset through a new section of the Arms Dealer strike, leading to another new mission called Presage accessed from the Tangled Shore map. Like the Hawkmoon, Dead Man’s Tale is another weapon that had randomized rolls, allowing players to essentially farm for unique perks.
Outside of the game itself, Bungie also made a major announcement this week regarding the future of the company. Its headquarters in Bellevue, Washington is going to nearly triple in size by 2022, expanding from 84,000 square feet to over 208,000. The added space will feature state of the art facilities to house and support multiple projects both in the Destiny Universe and outside of it. In addition, a new office is opening in Amsterdam that will be for the publishing and marketing divisions.
With the weekend just around the corner, the exotic merchant Xur has once again arrived inside of Destiny 2 with a fully updated inventory for players to check out. Follow this guide for his location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of February 19, 2021.
This weekend, players should head to will need to head to the Winding Cove in the European Dead Zone.
Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.
While Xur’s role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.
Other than that, here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:
Chromatic Fire – Warlock chest armor
The unique looking Warlock exotic has remained relatively untouched as of late, avoiding the sandbox changes Bungie made to many exotics are the start of the Season of the Worthy. For those who somehow don’t have it yet, it’s worth getting for situations where players are up against lots of enemies.
Its perk, Crystalline Transistor, causes an explosion, in the element of the player’s equipped subclass, after a kinetic precision kill. Having lots of enemies in a tight spot really maximizes the elemental damage. For PvP players, other guardians have mentioned that this armor is good when using particular weapons that cause explosions like Ace of Spades. One thing to keep in mind that it currently does not work with Stasis subclasses, so players will need to use the classic trio to maximize the benefits of this gear. The stat roll this week is also very high, beating out the other two items as well.

ST0MP-EE5 – Hunter leg armor
The popular gear known as ‘Stompees’ are back in stock with Xur this weekend for Hunters. Subclass neutral, these boots are extremely good for elevating player movement. Its intrinsic perk, Hydraulic Boosters, increase player sprint speed and slide distance. In addition, this exotic further improves High Jump, Strafe Jump, and Triple Jump.
For platform heavy activities like Raids or the recent exotic quests like Harbinger, these boots can be a lifesaver. While there are much better options for more combat specific modes such as Crucible, the St0mp-EE5 should absolutely be apart of any Hunter’s armor rotation.

- Discipline +8
- Intellect +9
- Strength +14
Ursa Furiosa – Titan gauntlets
It’s been quite a while since this Sentinel Titan item has been found but not much has changed about it in the time since. While it was formerly a mainstay, Bungie nerfed many exotic gear that impacted super regeneration back during the start of Season of Opulence, Ursa Furiosa included. As such, this isn’t as potent as it used to be and players may have better options available to them at this point.
Either way, Ursine Guard is the intrinsic perk which enables the player to move faster when guarding with Sentinel Shield. However, the best part of this perk is that blocked damage will convert into additional super energy once the super ends, similar to other class exotics like the Shards of Galanor for Hunters. As previously mentioned, the returned energy has a cap now, so it’s not nearly as useful as it was previously.

- Strength +10
Styled after the Destiny 1 exotic Red Death, the Crimson hand cannon is unique compared to other weapons in this class. The reason is due to its intrinsic perk known as Banned Weapon as it gives the gun a three round burst. It’s unique perk, Cruel Remedy, heals the player after killing an enemy while a precision kill refills the magazine.
Hand cannons remain a very strong weapon type in Destiny 2, even if there are better options currently available outside of Crimson. Still, the healing effect alone makes this gun worth it, especially in modes with lots of enemies to help trigger the effect. The weapon only gets better with the catalyst so for those who do not yet have this, pick it up.
