New information about Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts series has recently surfaced, just several weeks after the video game developer and publisher announced that the KH franchise is getting a release on PC. Now, Square Enix has shared the official PC specifications that are required to run Kingdom Hearts 3, whether on a desktop or laptop computer.
Long-time Kingdom Hearts fans are likely well-aware that none of the series’ previous games has ever been ported to the PC platform. With the franchise’s numbered titles such as Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 always exclusively available on PlayStation, and spin-offs such as Dream Drop Distance and Melody of Memory hitting Nintendo platforms, this is the first time that players on PC will be given the chance to step into the Kingdom Hearts universe.
In the official Kingdom Hearts 3 page on the Epic Games Store, Square Enix has shared the minimum and recommended PC requirements for fans to be able to play the latest numbered title in the RPG series. Given how Kingdom Hearts 3 was made with Unreal Engine, it is likely quite a pleasant surprise for fans to see that the video card requirements do not look as taxing as most triple-A games available on the platform.
To run Kingdom Hearts 3 minimally, fans need at least a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (VRAM 2GB) or AMD Radeon R7 260X (VRAM 2GB) graphics card, while their CPU should be Intel Core i5 3330 (3.0GHz) 4core/4Thread or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 (3.1GHz) 4core/4Thread. The game will be able to run minimally with at least 8GB of RAM, and will take up a whopping 75GB of storage. The PC’s OS should be at least Windows 10 64bit (ver. 1909 or later), and should have Direct X Version 11 installed.
For the game’s recommended requirements, a player’s CPU needs to be an Intel Core i5 7500 (3.4GHz) 4core/4Thread or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (3.1GHz) 4core/8Thread, while the GPU should at least be at the level of an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (VRAM 8GB) or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 (VRAM 8GB). The recommended requirements share the same RAM, hard drive storage, Windows operating system, and DirectX version as the minimum specs required, even though the game already comes bundled with the KH3 Re Mind DLC.
With all of the Kingdom Hearts games being made available this March 2021, long-time KH fans and players are likely excited to get to experience the games on their PCs. Since most of the KH spin-offs are scattered across several platforms, this may be the first time that players who don’t own a PlayStation 4 will be able to play all of the games under a single platform.
The Kingdom Hearts series releases on the Epic Games Store on March 30, 2021.
