Stardew Valley: Best Fall Crops | Game Rant

Fall in Stardew Valley is a time for Spirit’s Eve and gorgeous turning leaves and landscapes around Pelican Town. But some of the most profitable crops also grow during the fall season in Stardew Valley.

A good rule of thumb to keep in mind when growing crops in Stardew Valley is that berries should be growing during every season. Berries, especially blueberries and cranberries, typically yield more than one berry per plant, so it’s more bang for the buck. Each of them also regrows after just a few days, which can lead to a steady, large income if players are utilizing as much land as possible to plant berries. In the winter, using the greenhouse to grow berries is a tactic many veteran players use to maximize profit, especially by pairing them with a strong fertilizer.

In terms of berries, the same rule of thumb applies to the fall season in Stardew Valley. Cranberries should be planted during the fall and take a total of 7 days to grow, but each plant guarantees to yield 2 berries at harvest, with a chance to pull more berries. Cranberry plants regrow after just 5 days, which is excellent turnaround and ensures that players won’t have to rebuy seeds each time the crop is fully grown. Regular cranberries sell for 75 gold each, but iridium quality cranberries sell for 150 gold, so make sure to put some fertilizer down to increase profits from this Stardew Valley crop.

The second-best crop to grow during the fall season are pumpkins. Pumpkins are extremely profitable, selling for 320 gold each at normal quality and 640 at iridium quality, however, they take quite some time to grow. Pumpkins take a full 13 days to ripen, meaning players will only be able to sell 2 rounds of pumpkins during the fall season. Still, they’re very valuable in other ways as well. While they aren’t edible, pumpkins are used in a number of recipes and Bundles at the Community Center. Additionally, pumpkins are loved by Abigail, Krobus, and Willy.

Pumpkins have a chance to become a giant crop in Stardew Valley as well. By planting pumpkins (as well as melons and cauliflower in their respective seasons) in 3×3 grids, there’s a small chance each day that the crop can become giant. Giant crops can be harvested with an axe and yield around 15 to 21 units of the crop.

Additionally, the sweet gem berry grows during fall and is technically the most profitable crop in Stardew Valley. It grows from rare seeds purchased from the Traveling Cart, but typically only one seed is acquired at a time and sweet gem berries take a full 24 days to grow. Still, it sells for a minimum of 3,000 gold and a maximum of 6,000 gold.

Stardew Valley is available now for Linux, Mac, Mobile, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS Vita, and Xbox One.
