Persona 5 Strikers introduced many new features to the Persona series, such as a major change to the Bond system. The subject of one of the top pro tips that players should know before they start Persona 5 Strikers, as the Bond system is important in developing a strong team, so it can be helpful to know which are the best to focus on from the beginning.
In Persona 5, players would need to spend time with their teammates in order to increase a metric and “bond” with that character. The Bond system in Persona 5 Strikers works more like a skill tree, from which the player can select skills to upgrade that improve the team as a whole. Just as it’s important to consider the best personas to have in Persona 5 Strikers, it is also critical to review the best skills in the game, so that players can optimize their choices.
Easily the most important skill to unlock, Bondmaker increases the Bond experience gained in battle, which means the player will be able to unlock more skills, more quickly.
Another must-have skill, Joker’s Wild increases the drop rate of masks after a battle. This serves a dual purpose as, of course, the masks allow Joker to summon new personas, but if the player earns a duplicate mask, it provides a boost to earned experience points after the battle. So, with one skill, players can either increase their persona fusions or their level, making them stronger either way.
These three skills have roughly similar advantages, but they can be used together for greater effect. Extortionist increases the amount of money earned after a battle, while Highway Man increases the drop rate of items. Jewel Hunter improves the player’s chances of finding a Treasure Demon, which grant large amounts of money and experience – and sometimes Skill Cards and consumable items – upon their defeat. Considering that Bond points are gained by defeating enemies in Persona 5‘s many jails, by combining these skills, players can create a positive feedback loop through jail battles that keeps them supplied with Bond points, money, and powerful items.
Some players may balk at how expensive this skill is to unlock, but Oracle Recovery fully restores the party’s health and SP after a battle, which is invaluable. Not only does this prepare the player for their next battle, but it also decreases the amount of healing items they would have to buy and carry. Players may even be able to avoid health items entirely, if their Oracle Recovery skill has been adequately upgraded.
Smart Shopper expands the inventory at Sophia’s Shop, while also decreasing her prices. Players who have Highway Man, Jewel Hunter, and Extortionist may not see the value in the latter, but should not disregard the importance of the former; access to better items is always advantageous.
Some fans advise against Bonds like this one, arguing that the points could be better spent elsewhere since the gain is negligible. For players who find this to be true in their game, it may be helpful to consider how inexpensive this skill is in the first place. True, the gains may not be that appealing, but the low cost means that players can upgrade this skill with points leftover from the more expensive choices – and any boost to SP is invaluable in this game.
Persona 5 Strikers is one of the biggest games of February 2021 and, as such, there are plenty of gamers exploring the newest entry in the popular franchise. Those players who prepare themselves, such as by reviewing the Bond system before starting the game, will have a much easier time making choices throughout their experience.
Persona 5 Strikers is available now for PC, PS4, and Switch.
