To give Destiny 2 players more direction each week, Season of the Chosen has introduced Seasonal Challenges. Each week in Destiny 2 brings a new set of 10 challenges for players to complete, and the Week 3 challenges are the most challenging to date.
For Destiny 2‘s Week 3 Seasonal Challenges, Guardians will need to complete activities on Nessus, grind for better armor and weapons, and make a return visit to the Glykon. Some of the Seasonal Challenge quests are straightforward, but others are a bit more complicated.
Here is how to complete all of the Destiny 2 Seasonal Challenges for Week 3.
Objective: Report to the War Table in the HELM and complete the “Challenger’s Proving III” quest.
Like previous weeks, the Contender’s Ascent challenge is completed by finishing the new Challenger’s Proving quest. This time around, the Challenger’s Proving will take Destiny 2 players to Nessus to complete the new Battleground: Oracle activity there that has players fighting a mix of Cabal and Vex. Once that’s completed, players will have to get Cabal gold and follow the rest of the steps as outlined in the Quest. Anyone that’s completed the previous two weeks of Contender’s Ascent shouldn’t have a problem with this as it’s pretty straightforward.
Objective: Acquire Cabal Gold by playing strikes, Gambit, Crucible, public events, and more.
Like previous iterations of this challenge, any previously-acquired Cabal Gold counts for the total. This week, Destiny 2 players need to reach 300 total Cabal Gold. Cabal Gold can be obtained by doing pretty much any of the available activities in Destiny 2, so players should be able to complete this quest while doing other stuff in the game.
Objective: Smash Tribute Chests and focus Tier 3 Umbral Engrams.
Crash and Converge is yet another returning challenge from previous weeks of the Destiny 2 Seasonal Challenges, though it’s a bit different this week. Players still need to smash five more Tribute Chests, which they can do by participating in the Battlegrounds playlist, for a total of 15 chests smashed. But instead of focusing five Engrams, players need to focus a Tier 3 Umbral Engram, which requires three Hammer Charges instead of just one.
Players confused about this step need to go to the War Table in the HELM and check out the Hammer of Proving improvements. As players have increased their reputation with the War Table, they have earned Hammer of Proving upgrades to improve the item. One of these Tier 1 upgrades lets the Hammer of Proving hold five charges at once, which is necessary to focus a Tier 3 Umbral Engram.
Players will earn Hammer Charges by socketing the Hammer of Proving and completing Battlegrounds playlist matches. Once they have five, they can focus a Tier 3 Umbral Engram to complete this part of the quest.
Objective: Leave no stone unturned aboard the Glykon.
After players complete their first run through the Presage Exotic Quest, which lets them get the Dead Man’s Tale scout rifle, they can return to complete more objectives. One of these objectives is to scan five specific objects on the ship, and players will need to do that if they want to complete all of the Destiny 2 Seasonal Challenges for Season of the Chosen. So after completing the first turn through the Glykon, return to the ship and start looking for the scannable objects.
Cabal – Start the mission and get to the room that leads to the starting area. Players can push a switch here that opens the door and leads them back outside to where they started, but what they want to do is scan the dead Cabal bodies in this room.
Scorn – Keep going through the quest until reaching a point where the goal is to jump over a gap with spores active to walk through some darkness. Instead of jumping across the gap with the spores, jump across without them and take a right before the Darkness door to find Scorn helmets. Scan them before continuing on.
Ship – The next object is pretty easy to find as it’s rather massive, especially compared to the other objects that Destiny 2 players have had to scan so far. To find the third object, progress through the quest until reaching the hangar, which will be host to one of the mission’s biggest fights. Kill everything and then take note of the ship at the far end of the hangar. Scan it and then proceed out into space to continue the mission.
Canisters – This one might be a bit confusing to explain, so we recommend using the attached video as reference. But as players continue through the quest, they will reach a room where the goal is to shoot exposed electrical wires to temporarily shot down barriers. Pass through the first of these, and then take a left to find a switch. Players will know they’re in the right spot because interacting with the switch will remove the electrical barrier again. Next to the switch are canisters with blue liquid inside, which need to be scanned before players proceed to the next step.
Calus – Players don’t have to worry about scanning the fifth and final object until they’ve managed to defeat the Locus of Communion boss. After exiting the boss fight area, players will find themselves in a ventilation shaft. Instead of proceeding through the shaft and out of the normal exit, go the opposite way to find a secret room. In this room is a Calus hologram, which players can scan to finally complete this challenge and earn a Triumph while they’re at it.
Objective: On Nessus, earn progress by completing bounties, patrols, public events, and Lost Sectors.
Whereas previous weeks had Destiny 2 players focus on Europa and the Cosmodrome, this week requires players to complete bounties, Lost Sectors, public events, etc., on Nessus. The tricky thing about this challenge, though, is that players can only get three bounties at a time from the Failsafe on Nessus. What this means is that this is going to take at least a few days for most players to complete, though they can speed up the process if they play with more than one character on their account. Be sure to visit the Failsafe as soon as possible to start making progress on the bounties while completing some of the other Seasonal Challenges for Week 3.
Objective: Reach Power Level 1,300 by earning powerful rewards and Prime Engrams.
This is another straightforward challenge, but it will require players to do quite a bit of grinding in Destiny 2. Destiny 2 players can raise their Power Level in the game by equipping better weapons and armor, as well as upgrading their artifact, the Bell of Conquest. Destiny 2 players that have yet to hit Power Level 1,300 will likely be better off focusing on the other challenges instead of trying to grind to hit the Power Level. With enough time, players should be able to easily acquire the necessary armor and weapons to boost their Power Level to 1,300.
Objective: Calibrate weapons with Precision Final Blows on Nessus.
While completing Nessus bounties, Destiny 2 players should be going for as many Precision Final Blows as possible. They will have to get a whopping 100 Precision Final Blows on Nessus to complete the challenge. Perhaps the quickest way to get this done is by doing the Nessus Battlegrounds, though players can do pretty much anything to do this challenge as long as what they’re doing is taking place on Nessus.
Objective: Defeat Taken in Gambit. Earn progress by defeating tougher combatants.
Every week needs its own Gambit challenge, and Week 3 has players focusing on Taken enemies. In the Gambit, Taken enemies spawn in as “blockers” that players can send to the enemy team by depositing a certain number of Motes. Taken Blockers can drain a team’s bank as well as make it impossible to deposit Motes, so they should be focused right away. The Primevals that spawn once players fill their banks also count for this challenge, as do their Envoys, which can spawn a few times in any given Gambit match. Players should be killing Taken enemies in Destiny 2 Gambit matches anyway, so this challenge should come naturally.
Objective: Complete Iron Banner matches. Earn bonus progress for win.
Just like every Destiny 2 Seasonal Challenge week needs a Gambit challenge, it needs a Crucible challenge as well. The Iron Banner, for the uninitiated, are special Crucible matches where armor and Power Level are taken into account. Players will need to either win five Iron Banner matches or lose eight if they want to complete this challenge, as a loss fills up the progress bar by 13% and a win fills up the progress bar by 20%. Luckily, this means that Destiny 2 players don’t actually have to be good at the Crucible PvP content if they want to complete this challenge.
Objective: Complete playlist strikes.
For this challenge, just do exactly as it says. Complete five Strikes through the Vanguard playlist and the challenge will be done. It should provide for a lot more variety than last week’s challenge, where players had to swap between two different Cabal Strikes.
Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
