Paramount Plus Will Have Sonic, The Avengers, James Bond, And More

Yet another streaming service is throwing its hat into the ring. Paramount Plus is the latest subscription model for film and TV that is attempting to throw its weight around. While the service already technically exists in the form of CBS All Access, it will soon be rebranding, and that rebrand is coming with quite a bit of new content to incentivize new subscriptions.

In order to start hyping up the change and get people talking about Paramount Plus, the service’s Twitter account made a long Tweet thread going into some detail about upcoming shows and films that viewers can look forward to watching on the platform. Some of the announcements were already known, such as the Spongebob Squarepants prequel series, but the service also had some interesting acquisitions for those who don’t care about original content.

Of course, the service is going to have a large chunk of Paramount’s back catalog of films, but the streamer has also struck a deal with Epix, which means quite a few other films are coming as well. In one of their tweets, the company announces that the catalog will include recent films like Sonic the Hedgehog, Bumblebee, and the live-action Dora film, but it will also have some heavy-hitting classics like James Bond and The Avengers. Paramount Plus will be able to stream certain Marvel films, such as The Avengers and Captain America: The First Avenger, because Paramount Pictures distributed these movies when they first debuted in theaters. However, these titles will still remain on Disney Plus as well.

According to the thread, there will be over 2,500 movies to stream on Paramount Plus when it finally launches, and not just old films either. Another Tweet in the thread states that Paramount plans to slowly add more and more films to their streaming lineup after they release in theaters. This includes films like Top Gun: Maverick and the next GI Joe movie.

This information came with a host of other announcements such as classic films, original shows, and just about anything else that might entice someone to give a second look at yet another streaming service. Paramount Plus may be facing an uphill battle as something of a latecomer to the streaming wars, but with all the media they have access to, they do have a fairly strong argument for why consumers should pick them.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not the lineup will actually turn into a sustainable audience for Paramount Plus. Having the benefit of being built on an already existing service will certainly help. Whatever the case, those who do choose to subscribe will certainly have a great deal to look forward to when CBS All Access officially becomes Paramount Plus.
