Terraria back in development for Google Stadia

After a bit of an issue, Re-Logic’s Terraria is back in development for Google Stadia.

Earlier this month it was revealed that Terraria for Stadia has been canceled due to Google having disabled the studio head’s Google account without warning, and being unable to address the problem.

Basically what happened was that for some reason, founder Andrew Spinks’ Google account had been disabled without reason. According to Spinks, he did not violate the terms of service or do anything to cause the account to be disabled (thanks, Neowin).

My phone has lost access to thousands of dollars of apps on Google Play, I had just bought LOTR 4K and can’t finish it. My Google Drive data is completely gone, I can’t access my YouTube channel, and the worst of all is losing access to my address of over 15 years,” Spinks said on Twitter.

“I absolutely have not done anything to violate your terms of service, so I can take this no other way than you deciding to burn this bridge. Consider it burned. Terraria for Google Stadia is canceled.  My company will no longer support any of your platforms moving forward. I will not be involved with a corporation that values its customers and partners so little. Doing business with you is a liability.”
Apparently, the issues have been resolved, and Staida customers will soon be able to jump into the rather fun game.

As you may have noticed, we had a ton of issues to kick off the year stemming from the locking-down of Redigit’s entire Google account in early January. After a month of pushing (and with the immense support of our fans), Google finally reached out and was able to provide a lot of transparency around the situation and to restore access to all of our accounts. Due to the hard work the Stadia team has put in – as well as our partners at 505 Games – we have decided that we will allow the upcoming launch Terraria on Google Stadia to proceed. The Terraria Stadia build is based on the DR Studios 1.4.0.5 (latest) build, and is currently at Google for certification review.

This is good news for Stadia users, as it’s just one of the over 100 games Google has promised to release on Staida this year, which is also welcome news considering Google recently shut down its internal games division.

If you are just getting started with Terraria, having issues, or are waiting for it to arrive on Staida and want to get a head start, we have plenty of guides to help you out. We tell you which are the best swords and whips in Terraria, as well as where to find Ecto Mist, a Cat License, and a Flaming Mace.
