Monster Hunter World: Iceborne – How to Get Fatalis Evil Eyes

Fatalis was the final monster added to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne as one last challenge for hunters. Fatalis is indeed one of, if not the most, challenging monsters in the entirety of the Monster Hunter World Iceborne expansion and players who want to craft Fatalis gear will need to collect several Fatalis Evil Eyes, which is no easy feat.

For hunters that would rather try their luck instead of having to fight Fatalis over and over again for Evil Eyes, they can instead trying their luck with the Plunderblade. For those unfamiliar, the Plunderblade is a Palico gadget that can gather materials from monsters in the midst of battle.

If players have managed to reach Fatalis without ever acquiring the Plunderblade and wish to try this method, then they will need to head to the Rotten Vale with some raw meat in their inventory then head to area 13 and talk to the Lynian Researcher. At this point, players will need to wait for an Odogaron to bring a dead Legiana into the area. Once the Odogaron leaves, a Grimalkyne will show up and be scared off by the player. Follow the scout flies and place the raw meat in the area where they stop and then hide. The player’s Palico will let the player know when to come out and initiate the scene to receive the Plunderblade.

While the Plunderblade can be used to get an Evil Eye from Fatalis without having to defeat it or perform any part breaks, the odds are extremely low. There is only a 1% chance of getting an Evil Eye this way. It’s a method really only for those who are very patient and really do not want to deal with actually fighting Fatalis.

The only other option for getting Evil Eyes is to do it the old fashioned way, which is to either defeat Fatalis and get one as a quest reward or break parts to get one. In the case of Evil Eyes, players will want to focus fire on Fatalis’ head. Not only will this end up weakening its fire breath attacks in the latter half of the fight, breaking it twice will result in a guaranteed Evil Eye at the end of the quest. Breaking the head twice is not really an easy feat however, so players will definitely want to find a really well coordinated team, pick up a weapon they’re comfortable with that can damage the head easily, and/or run Partbreaker level 3. Some players report that Partbreaker loses its effect on the head after it’s broken once or when the fight enters phase 3. It’s unconfirmed, which, if either is true, but it’s something to keep in mind.

While even surviving the fight is difficult to accomplish if the head isn’t broken twice, it is entirely possible to beat Fatalis without the second head break. In that case, the drop rate for the Evil Eye will instead be 7% from carves and 5% from the Fade to Black event quest. The first quest to fight Fatalis does not have a chance at granting an Evil Eye as part of the quest rewards.

One Fatalis armor set will require three Evil Eyes to make in full, while a fully upgraded weapon will need two. So if players wish to have a full Fatalis armor set as well as one fully upgraded weapon, they will need five Evil Eyes.
