No Time to Die was supposed to premiere all the way back in April 2020, but since then James Bond has become the film industry’s leading man when it comes to movie delays. Now set for an October debut in the U.S. following a September 30 release in the UK, that leaves plenty of time for fans to go through 007’s vast backlog.
With a grand total of 26 movies, James Bond has been part of seven decades worth of cinema history that can fill anyone’s downtime, but what if one could even get paid to watch all of 007’s adventures? Well, this enticing mission is out there already for anyone to take, though just like a license to kill, the position has very limited vacancies and requires a specific profile in order to get briefed on the targets.
The contest comes courtesy of the site NerdBear, which is looking for a James Bond fan willing to go through almost all of 007’s outings in 30 days or less, while also gathering some crucial intelligence in order to complete the mission’s objectives. The requirements for the task are actually quite simple. Candidates should have a certain amount of love for the James Bond franchise, be detail-oriented, watch all 24 movies during a 30 day period and, lastly, must be active on social media in order to post updates on their progress.
The prize for the lucky person chosen to take on this challenge will be the sum of $1,000, plus a $100 Amazon gift card in order to rent the movies on Amazon Prime and a $50 AMC gift card to go watch No Time to Die when it finally releases. Applicants are required to take notes during the mission and complete a worksheet detailing the experience towards the end of the contest. Applications are open until April 16.
As for why the contest requires only 24 James Bond films instead of 26, NerdBear has chosen to do away with the two movies that weren’t made by Eon Productions and MGM, 1967’s Casino Royale and 1983’s Never Say Never Again which saw the late Sean Connery reprise his James Bond role, 12 years after giving up his double 00 status. Though the old Casino Royale is best forgotten, Never Say Never Again fell on critics’ good side many years later, especially as the 007 franchise entered its peculiar ’80s era.
Despite not being enough to buy one of James Bond’s iconic gadgets or cars, $1,000 is a fantastic prize for watching and comparing all the different 007’s portrayals, its also an opportunity to choose a favorite Bond actor, movie, and song. If not, there’s also a GoldenEye 007 remaster out there.
No Time to Die is set to release on October 8, 2021.
