As one of the most anticipated TV shows of this year, WandaVision got a lot of hype. Not every show could live up to the expectations, but WandaVision managed it so far. It can be amusing, scary, touching, and more, sometimes at the same time. So far, it’s unclear how the story will turn out and if viewers will find out all the mysteries of the hex.
The show poses a lot of questions but offers very few answers. Its fans naturally weren’t willing to let it be. Since WandaVision has started airing on Disney+, the audience created a lot of theories about what’s going on, trying their best to align the show with the comic story it’s somewhat based on, House of M. But, some theories are crazier than others.
Warning: May contain spoilers for the plot of WandaVision.
9 Wanda Is The Villain
This theory doesn’t seem so crazy. After all, Wanda is the one who’s pulling the shots in Westview and decides what happens. She even rewinds time when things don’t go her way. Except, that’s exactly what the show wants the audience to think. However, the truth might be somewhere in the middle. If Wanda is indeed controlling everyone and no-one has their fingers on it, it’s more than possible she’s not doing it for evil purposes. After all, she has some control, sure, but could she really end the hex if she wanted to?
8 The People In Westview Will Lead A Revolution
Wanda might be calling the shots in Westview, but not everybody likes it. Since its citizens realize something is wrong the few chances some get to come out of the control, it’s possible they could fight it. Vision had previously demonstrated that he can snap people out of their trance. If he did this to a sufficiently large number of people who would lead a so-called revolution, it’s possible Wanda’s fake paradise would come to an end. It’s likely, though, that it wouldn’t happen without fighting.
7 All The Westview Citizens Are Mutants/Superheroes
Another theory concerning the good citizens of Westview suggests they might all be mutants. It would explain why Wanda ended up in Westview of all cities. After all, New Jersey has plenty of towns that Wanda could use for building her ideal life with Vision. If the local citizens are indeed mutants, they might have special powers. And if they have special powers, they could break out of the trance sooner or later. This theory seems far-fetched, though, and there’s very little actual proof for it.
However, the story of WandaVision could be an inverse of House of M, meaning the result of this story could bring mutants into the MCU rather than erase them from existence. There’s definitely something like this going on with Monica Rambeau.
6 Wanda Created A Bridge Between Universes
A more probable theory suggests that Wanda might have inadvertently created a bridge of sorts between universes. When her brother, Pietro, comes to visit her, Wanda’s surprised, because he’s dead. Not only that, Evan Peters from the X-Men movie universe plays this Pietro.
That might mean Wanda reached out with her power to another universe where her brother was alive. If she pulled him across, the door to another universe might stay open. That would be the ideal opportunity for X-Men to come into the MCU. Although, it has been shown recently that this Pietro might not be who he says he is.
5 Hayward Is The Bad Guy
S.W.O.R.D. employees present themselves as the good guys. Still, there could be more to them than meets the eye. When Wanda stole Vision’s body from them, it looked like they were doing something to it. The unsympathetic director Hayward also acts in a strange way. He’s quick to put the blame on Wanda, too quick. He also has a secret project called Cataract on his computer which might be a clue to suggesting that Hayward and S.W.O.R.D. are somehow behind Westview.
Hayward has also expressed hatred for aliens and super-powered individuals alike. Could he aim to re-engineer Vision to create sentinels? That would make sense if this show plans to introduce mutants, especially.
4 Agnes’s Husband Is Mephisto
The show has introduced many characters so far, but one of them remains suspiciously absent, even though Westview is a rather small city and Wanda can meet anyone she likes at any time. She has yet to meet Agnes’s husband, Ralph.
Agnes makes a few mysterious remarks about her husband throughout the show. This theory suggests Ralph is in fact the Marvel villain, Mephisto. If that’s the case, he could be the one responsible for Wanda going into Westview in the first place. Wanda, herself, said she doesn’t remember how she got to Westview. Maybe it was because of Ralph/Mephisto taking note of the power she displayed against Thanos.
3 Everybody’s Dead
This theory is somewhat depressing. What’s more or less clear is that Vision may also be some sort of reanimated corpse. However, they might not be the only ones. In fact, Wanda could be the only person alive in the whole city. It sounds insane, but there is some evidence that ties to it other theories. For example, if the missing person that S.W.O.R.D. is looking for came into Westview, they might have killed everyone and used Wanda and the illusion to hide. One of Wanda’s neighbors, Herb, mentions they can’t leave, but he’s interrupted before finishing his sentence.
2 Wanda’s Parents Will Show Up
Wanda has loved and lost multiple people in her relatively short life. So far, two of them showed up in Westview – Vision and Pietro. There are more important people who could come back, such as Wanda’s parents. Some fans believe that the couple from the commercial is Wanda’s mom and dad. If that’s the case, they could be revealed in the final episodes. Either way, it would fit everything that happened in the show so far.
1 Pietro Is Ralph/Mephisto
Finally, a crazy theory states that Pietro is Mephisto (Ralph) and is pulling the shots. It would explain why Pietro showed up just when Vision expressed his doubts about the world about them. If Pietro/Mephisto could no longer control Vision at a distance, he might come to oversee Vision from nearby. Pietro is aware the world around them isn’t real, and he even proved in a recent episode that he is not who he claims to be, resulting in Wanda attacking him.
