Sekiro: Where To Find All The Treasure Carp Scales | Game Rant

Treasure Carp Scales are a type of currency in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice that the player can use to buy special items not found anywhere else from either of the two Pot Nobles, Harunaga and Koremori. They can almost exclusively be obtained as drops from the relatively harmless fish enemy known appropriately as Treasure Carp. However, a few can be found and looted from the world or come across by other, less straightforward, means.

Their vibrant orange scales help Wolf find his prey, though be quick, for these aquatic adversaries are agile. They can be found all throughout the game in certain subterranean areas, so keep one’s eyes peeled for these valuable fish and their gleaming scales.

This early area has a decent number of scales, though, it is also the location of a very important individual to meet if one wishes to actually use these scales on anything worthwhile. In the corner of the map, across from some boats and by low waterfalls, there will be a spit of land with a suspicious-looking pot. This odd ornament is actually Pot Noble Harunaga, and will trade with Sekiro; scales for items.

The Treasure Carp Scales of Hirata Estate can found in the following areas:

  • From 3 carps around Pot Noble Harunaga’s tiny island (3 scales)
  • From a carp beyond the bridge, on the farthest side from Harunaga (1 scale)
  • As a lootable item near a rock on one side of the bride (1 scale)
  • From a carp found in the water by a dog and bandit enemy wielding a torch and katana (1 scale)
  • From a carp in the water past Bamboo Thicket’s Sculpture Idol (1 scale)

There are a couple of scales to be found in this location, though they only spawn after Ashina Castle is attacked.

In this narrow, deadly passage in the Sunken Valley, players will have to deal with a colossal white serpent, though if they drop down carefully, they will find a Sculpture Idol near a body of water. This is where anglers seeking a particular fish should search.

The Treasure Carp Scales of Sunken Valley can be found in the following areas:

  • As a lootable item at the bottom of the lake (1 scale)
  • From 2 carp in the same area (2 scales)

All of the scales in this area are located in or around Mibu Village, so be sure to scout the area thoroughly, though carefully, as there are some sneaky foes here. There is also a short trading quest one will have to keep in mind and return to in the future, for 5 Treasure Carp Scales can only be obtained by giving a thirsty NPC in the village the Water of the Palace item that can exclusively be acquired from Fountainhead Palace. After giving them this specific item, reload the area to find them turned into an enemy. Slay them and then loot their corpse for the 5 precious scales.

The Treasure Carp Scales of Ashina Depths can be found in the following areas:

  • As buyable items from the Exile Memorial Mob, each for 500 sen (2 scales)
  • As a lootable item found close to the Ministry Shinobi (1 scale)
  • From a carp in the river near the bridge closeby to the village (1 scale)
  • As drops from the NPC-turned-enemy who drank the Water of the Palace (5 scales)

Easily the location in Sekiro where one will find the most Treasure Carp Scales, Fountainhead Palace has a staggering 23 of them scattered about its flooded expanse. There are quite a lot of powerful foes lurking about, both near and far, so be sure to tread carefully on land or in the water when going fishing. At some point, one should also speak with Pot Noble Koremori and do some shopping to make use of all these glimmering scales, as well as to participate in his interesting yet simple quest.

The Treasure Carp Scales of Fountainhead Palace can be found in the following areas:

  • As lootable items found in the same room as the Water of the Palace item located at the far end of the flooded complex of houses from the starting Sculpture Idol in the area (3 scales)
  • From 7 carp in the central part of the deep body of water between the flooded complex and palace (7 scales)
  • As lootable items found in a sunken house at the bottom of the central body of water (3 scales)
  • As lootable items close to the underwater skeleton of a giant carp (2 scales)
  • As drops from killing the Feeding Ground Attendant after feeding the Giant Colored Carp a Truly Precious Bait (4 scales)
  • Given by the NPC next to the feeding bell after feeding the Giant Colored Carp a Precious Bait (1 scale)
