A new bug in Call of Duty: Warzone is turning players’ sight red as a familiar alert simply won’t go away. Players have been dealing with bugs in Call of Duty: Warzone since launch, but most of the major issues have been resolved. Some lingering bugs are less impactful, but that does not make them less frustrating.
Both Rebirth Island and Verdansk have a limit to how far players can travel on the map. When a Call of Duty: Warzone fan leaves the designated combat zone of Verdansk, the screen turns red and starts counting down to the player’s death. This feature always has limited player’s access to map areas, but now it seems that the alert screen just won’t go away.
A clip posted by yo_quick_question on Reddit showcases the bug in all of its red glory. Call of Duty: Warzone’s new bug is seen clearly as his entire video is tinted red with the “return to combat area” alert displayed prominently on the center screen. Despite being within the legal play zone, the screen continues to persist, creating a frustrating game experience. The countdown is stuck at 0, and the player is unable to remove the screen for the remainder of that round.
The post author and players are dubbing this new Call of Duty: Warzone glitch “migraine mode” as a reference to the red pulsing effect of a lingering headache. While this is not a major bug, it is affecting many players’ abilities to approach the game as it provides an uncomfortable gaming experience.
Some players have reported that a similar Call of Duty: Warzone bug has appeared with other in-game notifications. It is unknown exactly what is triggering the text to remain on screen, but many fans agree that this bug would be less irritating if the out-of-bounds alarm would stop ringing. The red filter could be ignored, but the constant sound puts the affected player at a major disadvantage when trying to hear other in-game effects.
Many fans are taking this bug as a sign of the game’s continued decline. With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War continuing to be pushed at fans, many players believe that the developer is simply not maintaining the game on purpose. While this is not likely the case, it does showcase the community perspective towards continued glitches and bugs scattered across the Call of Duty experience.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
