A new Among Us feature pulls up a menu in the chat window that allows players to quickly click simple communication options such as a location or accusing a player of being an impostor.
Among Us launched in 2018, but last year, it rose to major popularity thanks to Twitch streamers and even won awards at 2020’s Game Awards for Best Mobile Game and Best Multiplayer Game. But with an expected surge in players also means more demands for fixes and additional features. Developer InnerSloth currently has a big update in the works, including a new free map with new tasks and the option to choose what room the player starts in. While this update has yet to release, InnerSloth has added a small but efficient feature to Among Us.
When gamers play sessions of Among Us with their friends, they’ll typically use voice chat through programs like Discord, but for those playing with strangers, they won’t usually use voice chats to discuss and find the impostors. Or perhaps some groups prefer text chat over voice chat when playing Among Us. But the new Quickchat feature should make it a little easier to communicate quickly during rounds of Among Us.
Now, Among Us players can use the Quickchat menu to quickly make accusations, point to a location when telling others where they found the body, ask simple questions in-game, and more. However, it looks like the new update has caused some glitches, such as lobbies not appearing for some users, so the new feature might not appear for everyone while InnerSloth works to fix it.
The new update with Quickchat is out on all platforms that support Among Us, which is great for Switch players as typing on the Nintendo’s console isn’t as fast or easy as a PC or mobile device.
Among Us is out now for Mobile, PC, and Switch, and will come to Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in 2021.
