10 Things You Completely Missed In Super Dragon Ball Heroes

Super Dragon Ball Heroes is essentially a love letter to fans that includes all things Dragon Ball. And by all things, they really mean all things. Literally no concept seems to be off the table for this series as long as it’s appeared in the anime, manga, or a movie before. This includes things that aren’t even canon to the universe of Dragon Ball Super.

Because of all these possibilities, it means the writers got to have a field day with continuity and sneaking in details for the fans. All throughout Super Dragon Ball Heroes, there’re Easter Eggs and secrets to find, that most won’t catch on their first watch.

10 Super Saiyan 4 Transformation

Super Saiyan 4 is a form that originates from Dragon Ball GT. It’s technically not part of the overall canon and isn’t used in the series after GT, until Super Dragon Ball Heroes. In Heroes, versions of characters from multiple realities clash, and Super Saiyan 4 Goku makes a return to fight against the Goku that fans know from Dragon Ball Super.

When Goku transforms into Super Saiyan 4, the transformation animation looks a lot like the transformation into Super Saiyan God. As they fight, it’s clear they’re pretty evenly matched so maybe this new animation is to hint at Super Saiyan 4 having godly strength or attributes.

9 Oren and Kamin

These twins are main antagonists of Super Dragon Ball Heroes from Universe 6 who bear striking resemblance to Baby from GT. The biggest differences between the twins and Baby is their origins. Baby was created by infusing the DNA of a Tuffle king with a parasite to create a powerful being that could get revenge on Saiyans for destroying their race. Oren and Kamin are completely artificial beings created as weapons, that happened to turn on their masters, wiping out the Tuffle race of Universe 6. These twins are also stronger than Baby because they don’t need a host body to take over to function, and they can control bodies without direct access to the blood stream.

8 Hearts Voice Actor

It’s gotten to the point of being a meme when fans hear Takehito Koyasu’s voice nowadays. Koyasu voices Hearts in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, a main antagonist of the series. Fans of anime might also recognize the voice quickly from tons of other popular series like Attack on Titan, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Initial D.

The most well-known credit Koyasu is known for is his role as Dio Brando in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Hearts shares a voice with lots of other characters, but he isn’t that memorable as a villain which makes it an interesting choice.

7 Gogeta

When Gogeta Blue appears to fight Hearts, there’s an interesting moment when he eggs him on to approach after punching him. Gogeta takes up a Bruce Lee pose, and tries to aggravate Hearts with a taunt, telling him he’s gonna have to get serious.

This moment really stands out as a reference to Gogeta’s other appearances in Dragon Ball. Even though Gogeta is probably the strongest form Goku and Vegeta can attain, he’s hardly seen in the series. Whenever he does appear, he’s seen as cocky and likes to show off. This moment is exactly in line with his other appearances, especially in his fight against Shenron in GT.

6 Mecha Zamasu

Zamasu makes an appearance in Heroes as well, showing up to help Hearts in hopes of enacting his plan to eradicate mortals from the universe. The Zamasu shown in these episodes is a bit different from what fans have seen before. The Zamasu of now has a cyborg form that seems to cover the right half of his body.

At first glance, this might seem to be to make up for the damage done by Future Trunks to his body after slashing Zamasu in half during their battle. This doesn’t seem to be the full story though since Zamasu’s right side was actually the side corrupted by evil in Dragon Ball Super. Trunk’s blade damaged him on more than just one side so the cyborg parts might actually exist to replace what he lost to evil.

5 Fu’s Motivations

Fu is the first main antagonist of Heroes, that helps set up the situation and the world around everyone. He pits everyone against each other in a sort of game to gather the special dragon balls and create a battle royale situation. Fu’s motives and origins are unclear until midway through his arc.

When it’s revealed that he’s an amalgamation of DNA from villains of the past who seeks nothing but destruction and power, it sounds like a lot of other Dragon Ball villains, but Cell specifically. Fu is a nod to Cell who had basically the same origin story and evil motivations. This could explain why he’s the biggest notable villain who doesn’t make an appearance in the anime.

4 Power Ball

Cumber is an ancient saiyan from a different timeline than the saiyans we know from Dragon Ball. He was called the Evil Saiyan and his legends were scarier than the legends of the legendary Super Saiyan, who turned out to be Broly. Cumber in the anime seemed to have all the abilities of the saiyans from Dragon Ball which was incredibly interesting.

This basically means that most of the transformations and techniques that Vegeta mentions in the future could have originated from Cumber, making him extra deadly. One example is the power ball which he uses to create a fake moon to trigger his Great Ape form. Vegeta was the first to perform this in the Dragon Ball canon during his fight with Goku.

3 Hatred Of Super Saiyan God

During Cumber’s fight with the heroes, he goes into a fit of extra rage once he sees Goku’s hair turn red in his Super Saiyan God form. This could be a small detail used to hint at Cumber’s relation with the transformation. The transformation itself is the culmination of a Super Saiyan surpassing the level of godhood by absorbing the power of saiyans around them. This rage could mean that the only reason Cumber was imprisoned to begin with was at the hands of the first Super Saiyan Gods from his ancient timeline.

2 Ultimate Hearts

There’re only a few characters that don’t get a revival and appearance in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, and Shenron is one of them. Ultimate Hearts is Hearts’ final form after he abosrbs the Universe Seed and it bears a good amount of resemblance to Syn Shenron from GT.

Both forms feature spikes that protrude from different limbs and from their backs, that are used for attacks. Shenron was able to send energy through them to shock his opponents, and Hearts is able to manipulate them at well like weapons. His ultimate form also features energy orbs that can be manipulated, which is very similar to the orbs of truth from Naurto.

1 Time Breakers

For fans in the west, Super Dragon Ball Heroes can be hard to follow since the series builds off of a series that came before it, and is inspired by events of a mobile game. A lot of episodes for this series and the one before it also never aired on TV, or made it to the west, making it especially hard to follow what’s happening.

Fu is the culmination of the Time Breaker’s Will, kidnapping the strongest beings across timelines and universes, for them to fight it out. The Time Breakers were the antagonists of the first Dragon Ball Heroes and their symbol is seen everywhere during Super Dragon Ball Heroes, so keep a look out for them.
