Loop Hero is filled with secrets, odd mechanics, and nuances that players will need to get to grips with to get the most from their time on the loop. From learning how to gather all the different resources to figuring out what every tile in the game does, there is a lot of information that players will need to learn.
In Loop Hero, players take on the role of a hero traveling a loop meeting various monsters, taking them on in automatic battles, and then earning rewards by defeating them. The tiles can then be placed on the loop, altering and manipulating it in different ways, giving players a way to make the challenges harder to get better loot and earn more resources.
One of the tiles, the Chrono Crystals, can be a little confusing, but the card’s overall function is to double the effect of each day’s passing, allowing players to get twice the value from other cards that are placed near to them. As long as a tile has some form of daily effect, placing it in contact with a Chrono Crystal will double that effect.
One way for players to take advantage of this is to carefully consider their tile placements and combinations. For example, when placing a Chrono Crystal on the loop, it can be placed along the outer edge, allowing players to place Meadow tiles beside it. This will first change the Meadows into Blooming Meadows, giving players 3 HP per day, and it will also double that effect to 6 HP per day due to the effect of the Chrono Crystal.
The Chrono Crystal and Meadow combo is sometimes used for Warrior builds in Loop Hero. Warriors will often try to build a high health regeneration stat that can be augmented well by increased daily healing from the Blooming Meadows. Chrono Crystals can also be placed beside enemy-generating tiles, doubling the number of enemies they will generate each day.
Because enemies are the source of all loot on the loop, a valid farming tactic is placing any tile that generates an enemy beside a Chrono Crystal, resulting in double spawns each morning. This will even work for Battlefields, allowing them to generate two chests. The effect of the Chrono Crystals tile does not stack, however, so there is little point in surrounding a tile with Chrono Crystals in an attempt to farm Orbs of Expansion.
As with all things in Loop Hero, players are advised to experiment with the Chrono Crystals tile to find the best ways to use it for their own preferred tactics, as it can be an extremely useful card when trying to take on the challenges of the loop.
Loop Hero is available on PC.
