While it is already hard to survive in Call of Duty: Warzone, the restrictive size of Rebirth Island only makes it more difficult. With the final circle closing in, players have limited options when it comes to approaching enemies. When presented with no clear path, this Call of Duty: Warzone fan chose an unexpected route ending with a well-deserved victory.
Rebirth Island is surrounded by water, which means that Call of Duty: Warzone operators cannot leave the island. Without swimming mechanics, the game will kill any player who touches the water automatically. While this goes for all player models, Call of Duty: Warzone vehicles play by slightly different rules.
In a clip posted by Bappenin to Reddit, the player is seen in the final moments of a game of Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence. As they walk towards the shore, they notice the zone closing in with enemies on their right flank. It is clear that there are not many safe paths, but suddenly a teammate pings an SUV sitting in the water just off the shore. The player maneuvers around the cliff and then parachutes down, avoiding enemy fire all the way, before landing on the SUV, sitting gently within the zone. Using this new vantage point, they eliminate the last two players alive and win the Call of Duty: Warzone game using a new trick that Reddit has coined as the “Water Taxi.”
This trick only works due to the depth of the water surrounding Rebirth Island. One bad move and the player could die as any contact with the water is lethal. By standing on the SUV, the player is above the water level and able to kill Call of Duty: Warzone players from an unexpected location.
In the comments, Bappenin admits to placing the car there earlier in the game. While they thought it might be a neat idea, none of his team believed it would be the key to winning the round of Resurgence. If the enemy was paying attention, they could have hidden from the SUV and won by allowing the Call of Duty: Warzone gas to eventually close in.
Fans are now finding ways to use the “Water Taxi” trick within other game modes of Call of Duty: Warzone. The ability to slightly submerge the car offers an unconventional option, and players love having alternative methods when seeking victory in this battle royale experience.
