Capcom has been pushing the marketing for Monster Hunter Rise ever since it was announced last year. The latest entry in the long-running action-RPG series is due to launch in just a little over two weeks and many fans are excited to jump into it and see what’s changed this time around. But, fans don’t have to wait that long to try out the game, because Capcom is releasing a second demo for the game later tonight (Thursday, March 11) that contains an extra mission that wasn’t in the first demo.
If any folks didn’t get the chance to check out the first Monster Hunter Rise demo that was released in January, it contained two normal hunting quests and two tutorial quests for those who may be inexperienced with the series or just need a refresher on the game’s mechanics and systems. Players could either choose to hunt a Great Izuchi or the Mizutsune, with the latter being the more challenging of the two.
For players that are wondering just when the Monster Hunter Rise demo 2 launches on the Nintendo Switch eShop, Capcom has not confirmed an exact time. However, Capcom has confirmed that the demo will be up on the eShop late on March 11 in the US and sometime in the early morning for people in the UK on March 12. To see if the demo is available, simply open up the eShop, search for the Monster Hunter Rise page, and then players should see an option to download the demo. If it’s not there, that means the demo hasn’t launched in the player’s region yet.
As for what’s been added to the demo, Magnamalo can now be challenged in its own quest. The quest is different from the others, as it’s on a low 15-minute timer, which makes it very difficult to take it down, especially if players are going at it solo. The monster has also been made more difficult than normal, and since players have to use fixed armor sets, there’s no way to use special skills. Magnamalo is a very tough opponent and players can find the battle to be a bit easier to handle if they pick up some of the healing items around the map. The green-colored endemic life can raise maximum health, allowing hunters to last a little longer.
Magnamalo can take out a hunter in just one strong attack and it can also use its energy to cause a status ailment to players that can cause destructive damage. This hellfireblight can be cured by using an item like deodorant or by using a Wirebug to dash it off. Once players die and get sent back to camp three times, the quest will come to an end, and players and retry it if they choose to do so with a different weapon.
Monster Hunter Rise is set to launch on March 26, 2021, as a Nintendo Switch console exclusive. A PC port of the game will be coming sometime in early 2022.
