Rumor: Outriders Could Be Coming to Xbox Game Pass | Game Rant

Outriders from People Can Fly is riding high off the success of its demo, with many people looking forward to the full release. Outriders will retail for the usual $60 when it launches for various platforms in a couple of weeks, but it seems there’s a possibility that Xbox Game Pass subscribers won’t have to pay more than the cost of its subscription if a recent tease is any indication.

The official Xbox Game Pass Twitter account posted a “screenshot” of a fake email apparently sent by Melissa McGamepass, a fake name it has used to similar Game Pass teases in the past. The caption on Twitter suggests that the email contains a tease for a game that’s coming to Xbox Game Pass, and so fans have been tearing it apart for clues. The sentence “Has anyone else noticed a mysterious signal in the distance lately or am I the anomaly in the situation?” in particular is believed to be the tease fans are looking for.

Many have come to the conclusion that this must be a tease for Outriders because the words “mysterious signal” and “anomaly” both appear in the Outriders story trailer from February 2020. And as pointed out by GameSpot, the Outriders demo concludes with players going after a “mysterious signal.” While Xbox Game Pass could be teasing a completely different game, it does seem to be pointing in Outriders‘ direction.

Outriders being a brand new game would make it a big “get” for the Xbox Game Pass service, especially if it arrives on the same day it launches on April 1. This isn’t the first time that new games have debuted on Game Pass, as that’s the case with all first-party Xbox games, but it’s rare for big budget multiplatform games. It should go a long way in helping boost the Xbox Game Pass subscriber count even further as well as get a lot more people playing Outriders than would have otherwise.

A game like Outriders needs a strong community to survive. Even though Outriders does not have live service elements like many other looter-shooters, the game is still built around co-op gameplay and its success will determine whether or not it gets serious post-launch support in the form of new content expansions and the like. Being available through Xbox Game Pass will ensure that it has a built-in community right off the bat, and could go a long way in making sure it is an overall success.

Microsoft has been especially aggressive with Xbox Game Pass lately. Besides the potential for Outriders to come to the service, it also just added a bunch of Bethesda games as well, including some of the company’s most critically-acclaimed titles. It just goes to show how serious Microsoft is about making Xbox Game Pass a must-have subscription for Xbox gamers.

Outriders launches April 1 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
