Marvel’s Avengers Fan Art Imagines WandaVision Scarlet Witch Skin

To say that Marvel’s Avengers, the role-playing brawler, not the film franchise, got off to a rocky start would be something of an understatement. Many Marvel fans gave up on the game pretty early in its lifespan, and even those who have stuck with it hope for improvements to come in future updates. One fan in particular has created hypothetical concept art in order to show off what they’re hoping for in future updates of Marvel’s Avengers: a WandaVision Scarlet Witch character skin.

Marvel’s Avengers has released several different character skins in the past, and some new skins are even expected when the Hawkeye DLC is released on March 18, but the game has so far steered away from releasing Marvel Cinematic Universe skins. It’s possible that there’s a rights issue preventing developer Crystal Dynamics from using likenesses from the Marvel movies, but past Marvel games like 2016’s Marvel’s Heroes released MCU skins, so that seems unlikely.

Regardless, Reddit user Byctor has imagined a world in which MCU’s newly dubbed Scarlet Witch flies out of the emotional WandaVision finale and into the Marvel’s Avengers video game. Their fan art shows a poised Scarlet Witch, perfectly capturing the likeness of Elizabeth Olson in her MCU garb. The character stands, ready for action, with one hand in Wanda Maximoff’s signature position and the other holding a magical ball of red energy.

The developers for Marvel’s Avengers have promised fans years of content, so it is possible the MCU Scarlet Witch will one day find her way into the game. While some fans are skeptical about that promise being kept, the game has so far delivered several updates that brought new content, such as the Kate Bishop skin and cosmetics bundle released a few months ago. Indeed, it seems the developers are focusing on trying to add original content into the game before appeasing fans with some MCU tie-ins, which is certainly not a bad thing.

It should be noted, too, that developing new skins takes time. The Tobey Maguire suit wasn’t added to 2018’s Spider-Man game until months after its initial release, and that title wasn’t playing the hectic game of catch-up that Marvel’s Avengers is currently engaged in. It seems some extra addition content and fixes are coming to Marvel’s Avengers on March 18 along with the Hawkeye DLC, though, so if that update is received well it is possible the developer’s eyes may just wander over to the MCU.

At the end of the day, no matter what Marvel fans might think of Marvel’s Avengers, it is at least responsible for some amazing fan art. And while many fans like Byctor hope to one day see the MCU Scarlet Witch in the game and other fans hope to see White Vision pop up in Marvel’s Avengers, only Crystal Dynamics knows what’s coming next for sure.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions coming March 18.
