New Horizons certainly runs the gamut in terms of price tags, ranging from just a handful of Bells to hundreds of thousands.
This list will highlight the most expensive decorative items and furnishings amongst this vast catalog of hundreds. These are some truly elegant goodies that are sure to impress island visitors.
Updated March 14th, 2021 by Stephen LaGioia: After a year-plus, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is still going strong thanks to its whimsical nature, rewarding gameplay, and its range of items – which now include some Mario-themed goodies. In a year that saw many spending more time at home, gamers and non-gamers alike were drawn with its lighthearted social and exploration-based gameplay. As such, it seemed appropriate to flesh out this list with additional details and more luxury items to add visual appeal to any island paradise.
15 Aluminum Briefcase (100,000 Bells)
Some may recall the 2020 May Day event; a cryptic puzzle that tasked players with reaching the end of a hedge maze using a handful of tools and items. Those who completed the puzzle would be gifted the briefcase of the event’s feline arranger, Rover. While the event lasted just a week, inhabitants can still shell out 100,000 Bells for this similar work-related item.
Like most of the pricier items in the game, the value of the briefcase really comes from its heir of exclusivity rather than any practical use.
14 Server (100,000 Bells)
Animal Crossing techies should certainly get a kick out of this computerized tower. As per usual, the item doesn’t function in any practical way, though it does “serve” as a neat way to deck out one’s computer room or tech-themed area. Its display of flashing lights and audible beeps produce a high-tech vibe that’s fun to take in.
Still, those looking to downsize from this monstrosity of computing can flip it back at Nook’s Cranny for 25,000 Bells.
13 Desktop Computer (100,000 Bells)
As is the case in real life, shelling out for a new desktop computer can be a hefty investment. In the world of Animal Crossing, though, this apparently extends to PCs that seem to have been plucked out of the early 2000s.
One neat aspect of this item is that it can be customized by way of Nook’s Cranny customization kits. These allow players to illuminate their desktop screens with visuals ranging from search engines to programming code and even custom-drawn images. These borderline retro computers also come in four colors – black, silver, white, and pink.
12 Shower Booth (110,000 Bells)
Given all of the outdoor exploring and labor involved in New Horizons, maintaining one’s hygiene is important! And what better way to achieve this than a top-of-the-line shower booth? Of course, there isn’t really any need to stay clean in AC: NH. Nonetheless, this certainly makes for a nice decorative item that’s sure to liven up a typically dull-looking bathroom.
Like most on this list, these showers can be bought at Nook‘s Cranny, and come in four color variations– white, black, blue, and pink. It can be sold back for a respectable 27,500 Bells.
11 Cello (130,000 Bells)
While the majority of furnishings and houseware are just for show, there are a number of items that can be interacted with on some level. Some of the key assets with this feature are musical instruments– which allow players to bust out random tunes whilst simply button mashing.
This makes the Cello somewhat more appealing despite its high price tag, especially for those who fancy classical music and string instruments. These can be bought in either black or white, and also come in Natural and Classic style. An upgraded Nook’s Cranny will offer this item for a significant 130,000 Bells, and will buy them back for a decent return of 32,500.
10 Harp (130,000 Bells)
Though the Cello’s decorative qualities may not be its biggest appeal, the same cannot be said for this classic instrument. This Harp just exudes luxury, with its crafted detail, sleek finish, and robust size. This sophisticated item would surely be a nice focal point to any home study, bedroom, or music room.
They won’t often be seen at Nook’s Cranny, but those with the money and taste for classical melodies should consider making this investment if one pops up.
These luxury Harps come in black, white, brown, and light/dark brown. They can be sold back for a solid 32,500 Bells.
9 Whirlpool Bath (130,000 Bells)
Though it isn’t a cheap endeavor, it’s quite possible to flesh out one’s bathroom and inject a sense of elegance and visual appeal. Indeed, items like the shower– as well as this relaxing whirlpool bath– can help make the usually bland bathroom one of the more visually interesting rooms in one’s house.
This sleek tub’s serenading ambiance of the sloshing water adds a soothing aura, helping one unwind after a long day of island escapades. These tubs come in white or black – and the latter looks particularly sleek. While it’s no small price to pay for this added luxury, it can be sold back for 32,500 Bells.
8 System Kitchen (130,000 Bells)
One of the first themed rooms many opt for when expanding their home is a kitchen– and this item definitely helps tie together this theme. Though it’s pricey, it makes for an emphatic centerpiece for any kitchen and immediately gives it a sense of detail and character. And the fact that there are multiple elements crammed into one large item makes the price tag all the more worth it.
This Kitchen Set comes in a whopping eight colors– white, off-white, red, blue, natural, brown, black, and yellow. It can be pawned at Nook’s Cranny for the price of 32,500 Bells.
7 Hanging Scroll (140,000 Bells)
While the price of this seemingly simple item might raise some eyebrows, it does make sense from a cultural standpoint. They’re meant to represent actual hand-crafted Japanese scrolls, which double as decorative works of art and mantras or narratives. The reason for their sky-high price can be traced back to the artists – calligraphy masters that often dedicate a lifetime to learning and honing their craft.
And though these digital representations are a far cry from the real thing, they do add a similar sense of sophistication and artistic ambiance.
Those more wealthy island designers can really add some visual intrigue by diversifying with other variations and patterns. They come in green, brown, pink, blue, and purple. Aside from the basic calligraphy pattern, the scrolls can be had in variations which include mountains, fish, bird, and flower. Scrolls can be sold back for 35,000 Bells apiece.
6 Open Frame Kitchen (1400,000 Bells)
There’s no shortage of fun items to deck out one’s kitchen in AC: NH, and this heavy-duty houseware set makes for a particularly great centerpiece.
The sink and stove combo instantly helps fill out an inhabitant’s personal kitchen, and it does so without taking up a ton of room. Though there are no customization options, the item manages to look quite sleek on its own merits. It can be had at the upgraded version of Nook’s Cranny, and sold back for 35,000 Bells.
5 Fancy Violin (140,000 Bells)
Any item that has the word “fancy” in its very name is sure to cost a hefty chunk of change. Case in point? The appropriately-tagged “Fancy Violin.”
This item offers some elegant pizazz to one’s home while also being a source of some pretty melodies. Its price is steep to be sure, but the fact that it’s one of the more gorgeous items in the game, and can be played– at least makes it somewhat justifiable. In terms of its color scheme– the Fancy Violin comes in black, natural, and white. Those who second guess their musical ambitions can sell this back for 35,000 Bells.
4 Screen (140,000 Bells)
Multipurpose items should typically be viewed as more valuable, which at least partially explains the Screen’s lofty asking price of 140,000 Bells. Its range of images– including dragon, tiger, pine, plum, and bamboo– instantly inject some artistic flair into one’s home.
At the same time, this item can serve as a sort of makeshift wall or divider to separate or isolate areas of a room. This brings an added feeling of depth and grandiosity to one’s home, as it essentially allows for a room within a room. Those who decide to opt for a more open room after buying one can sell it back for 35,500 Bells.
3 Kitchen Island (170,000 Bells)
Another multifunctional asset is this robust Kitchen Island– a furnishing that strengthens one’s kitchen from a visual and practical standpoint.
One side of the item emphasizes detail, with its slew of compartments, a sink, and cooktop. Meanwhile, the opposite side allows one to use it as a countertop with which to place excess kitchen items; ricer-cookers, mixers, etcetera. This minimizes the need to craft additional tables or counters.
Though it isn’t customizable, the item comes in a whopping seven variations – white, blue, red, light brown, dark brown, black, and silver. Though 170,000 is a pretty large chunk of digital change, it can at least be sold back for a hefty 42,500.
2 Elaborate Kimono Stand (220,000 Bells)
Considering the origins of NH‘s developer, it’s perhaps appropriate that one of its standout items is brimming with Japanese flair and character. One might be surprised to find this traditional Japanese dress Stand cost a whopping 220,000 Bells. It also can be flipped for a pretty respectable 55,000.
This is both a visually appealing and detailed item. It’s deceptively expensive, though it makes for an emphatic way to decorate all sorts of themed rooms. Couple this with the Screen to truly exude some Eastern cultural flair.
These come in a variety of different paintings all shown here– hawk, wisteria, balls, cranes, and tree peonies.
1 Grand Piano (260,000 Bells)
Yes, the Grand Piano certainly comes with a “grand” price tag, standing tall as the most expensive piece of furniture in AC: NH.
This lavish, elegant item is sure to make for a gorgeous focal point for just about anyone’s virtual home. Whether playing delightful tunes or simply admiring it from afar, the Grand Piano is an investment worth going for– even if it does take a while to afford.
This piano comes in four colors; each of which are rich and appealing in their own way. Players can choose between white, black, cherry, and walnut.
