Leaker Reveals What Happens in the First 30 Minutes of Resident Evil Village

While industry insider Dusk Golem isn’t an official source of video game information, he has a track record of correctly reporting things that have yet to be announced by official sources, and he recently reported some new information on Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil Village. In response to a Resident Evil fan who asked about details concerning Village‘s intro, Dusk Golem posted a series of tweets that detail what players can expect from the first 30 minutes of the game.

There are three tweets in total, and while what they claim can’t be confirmed at the moment, Dusk Golem does provide some vivid details concerning Resident Evil Village‘s intro. What he writes more or less coincides with what players have seen in the Resident Evil Village trailers that have aired so far, namely the first one. Apparently, the beginning of Village revolves around the incident where Chris Redfield invades Ethan’s home. With that in mind, there will be potential spoilers for the game ahead.

According to Dusk Golem, the game begins with the player, as Ethan, exploring his and Mia’s home. After finding their daughter Rose and putting her to sleep, Chris Redfield bursts into the house, shoots Mia, and then takes Ethan and Rose hostage in his car. Once Chris crashes the car, Ethan explores the forest for a phone and finds a dilapidated house. Eventually, he meets the old man who gets snatched by the werewolf, obtains a handgun, sneaks through a creepy basement, and finally arrives in the titular village.

While nothing can currently verify Dusk Golem’s claims, that may change soon. An upcoming Sony Japan event will include Resident Evil Village when it premieres on March 21, and it will display gameplay and other details about the title. It’s possible then that the showcase will reveal if Golem’s claims turn out to be accurate. There’s no reason to think that they aren’t as it stands, but it’s always best to take speculation with a grain of salt.

So far, the only games announced for the Sony Japan event, formally known as “Play! Play! Play!” are Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade and, of course, Resident Evil Village, and the event itself will be an hour. It’s unlikely that these will be the only two games at the event, but if they are, that means that they each have half an hour to showcase what they want. If that’s the case, and what Golem says is true, then the showcase should show off the first 30 minutes of Resident Evil Village.

Resident Evil Village arrives May 7, 2021, on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
