Future Call of Duty: Warzone Seasons Will Have ‘Never Done Before’ Content

Call of Duty: Warzone is gearing up for a massive ending to its Zombies event, but supposedly, this will only be the beginning of the game’s unique content. In a recent interview with Inverse, Activision’s Chief Revenue Officer for eSports Brandon Snow teased some exciting developments for Call of Duty: Warzone.

In the interview, the executive focused heavily on Call of Duty: Warzone’s esports plans when discussing what is coming next. While the Call of Duty League has performed very well, Snow details how Call of Duty: Warzone will help the League reach a larger, more casual audience of gamers. While the game getting some love in the competitive scene is exciting, Snow’s tease for content that regular players will be able to enjoy is equally promising.

According to Snow, future Call of Duty Seasons will see Call of Duty: Warzone players encountering “really cool new stuff” that the game “has never done before.” Assuring fans that it will be exciting, Snow adds that this content will be handled “in a Call of Duty way.” While Snow does not specify what exactly this Call of Duty: Warzone content will entail, players can expect that the game’s heavily rumored nuke event will be at least one of the things that is unlike anything seen thus far.

The nukes will supposedly hit Verdansk on April 22, serving as a direct result of the quickly spreading Zombies. Used to contain the outbreak, players will supposedly see the nuke hit in-game through a game mode called Plague. Sounding like a PvPvE experience that will have players fighting more Zombies than humans, the mode fits the bill of being content that Call of Duty: Warzone has never seen before. However, with the event likely only being the focus of one Season, Snow’s comments imply that there will be other content drops that are different from what has come before.

As for what these unique updates can be, Snow kept his comments vague enough that they could be virtually anything. Still, new game modes are an obvious possibility, with more PvE content possible if the Zombies event goes well. A new game mode set entirely within Call of Duty: Warzone’s Gulag could be interesting to see as well, with a tournament of sorts playing out as entire lobbies watch the action. Beyond new ways to play, more in-game events seem likely for Call of Duty: Warzone’s upcoming Seasons, possibly bringing more crossover content like the Halloween-themed Haunting of Verdansk event from late less year.

Considering that the long-rumored Ural Mountains map will supposedly be coming to the game soon as well, this Activision executive’s comments seem to hold up. Going forward, it seems like Call of Duty: Warzone will be feeling fresher than it has in a long time.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
