Zack Snyder’s Justice League Virtual Premiere Faced Six-Hour Delay

DC fans have waited years for Zack Snyder’s Justice League to be released and a few lucky fans were given the opportunity to watch the film a few days ahead of everyone else. But, when they logged online, they were greeted by an error message instead of getting access to the much-awaited film. The special screening was delayed by six hours.

The invite-only premiere, which was scheduled for March 15, was meant to happen via Microsoft Teams. An official statement released by HBO Max stated that the platform was facing a “systemwide outage.” The same was corroborated by Microsoft, with the technology conglomerate blaming the issue on “a recent change to an authentication system”.

Snyder took to Twitter himself and apologized to his fans for the faux pas. “I have no words,” he wrote while the issues were still ongoing. The virtual Justice League premiere, which was scheduled to begin at 3 pm PT, finally got underway around 9 pm and that is when the attendees received access codes to log in to the server.

Through a contest promoted on Twitter, Snyder himself had invited his followers to celebrate the “everyday heroes” in their lives and win tickets to the early screening of Zack Snyder’s Justice LeagueWhile the film focuses on fictional heroes, fans were asked to record short videos to explain why the real heroes around them were doing their best. Several other prizes were also being offered to randomly-selected fans, including a year-long subscription to HBO Max. But, unfortunately for the streaming service and Snyder, the premiere didn’t work out the way they had planned.

Despite the delay, Justice League fans, while disappointed, quickly came to Snyder’s defense on Twitter. Some of them were part of the premiere and unable to watch the film they had been waiting to see for so long. But, nothing seemed to stop them from praising the director and showing their support. However, there were other social media users who called out the streaming service for the delay, even though it was seemingly not in their control.

This isn’t the first time an issue with Justice League‘s release has occurred. Just a few days ago, some HBO Max users in the US were able to access Justice League while trying to watch Warner Bros.’ recently released Tom and Jerry. The accidental release was caught early by the streaming service and the issue was fixed. However, some users were able to watch over an hour of the film. Facing two separate speed bumps in the road just a few days prior to its release has caused some fans to question if it was just a marketing tactic. Now, it remains to be seen if the Justice League premiere on HBO Max will go smoothly or not.
