When one talks about some of the greatest video games ever made, it’s only a matter of time before The Witcher 3 is brought up in this conversation. CD Projekt Red started from very humble beginnings with the first title in the series, which ended up paving the way for a sequel and ultimately culminated in the final title of the trilogy that is considered by many to be an excellent open-world action-RPG that is still going strong as a playable — and highly enjoyable — title.
Playing The Witcher 3 on the PC is arguably the best way to experience this masterpiece, mainly due to the manner in which one can integrate a whole host of mods to improve one’s time spent with the game. Keeping this in mind, here are ten of the best mods that one can install in their copy of The Witcher 3 in order to optimize their experience with the game.
10 No Fall Damage
One of the biggest things that irk people in The Witcher 3 is that Geralt can take a ton of hits from powerful monsters and is generally in peak physical shape… yet dies from the smallest fall for no reason whatsoever.
The No Fall Damage mod gets rid of this annoyance, meaning that players can freely roam around the world of The Witcher 3 without having to worry about some extremely avoidable deaths.
9 Fast Travel from Anywhere
The world of The Witcher 3 might be fun to explore, but one can’t deny the fact that there are times when trying to find a signpost for the sole purposes of fast traveling can get slightly annoying.
Thankfully, with this mod, players now have full liberty to fast travel to any part of the map without having to accomplish the tiresome task of reaching a signpost.
8 Always Full EXP
The Witcher 3 might sport stellar narratives and challenges across the majority of its questlines… but there’s no denying the fact players who end up finishing a quest that they were slightly overleveled for would be kinda peeved at the fact that the experience for completing this quest is close to negligible.
The Always Full EXP mod aims to change this, providing a bunch of balanced options to ensure that players don’t feel like they’re wasting their time with some of the quests in the game.
7 All Quest Objectives On Map
One has to admit that, for the sheer level of main and side quests present in The Witcher 3, the game doesn’t really do a great job of allowing players to track these objectives easily through the map.
Thankfully, the All Quest Objectives On Map mod fixes this problem by performing the exact function that is stated in the name itself — it allows players to track multiple quest objectives on the map without being too convoluted. In fact, this mod even allows for players to switch the active quest objective with a single push of the button as well!
6 Slots Slots SLOTS
The base game ends up limiting the total number of skill slots and mutations in order to offer more of a balanced experience. However, this limitation can be somewhat irksome for players who want to explore the entirety of Geralt’s arsenal without any limitations.
This mod aims to accomplish exactly that by removing these limitations on skills and mutations. All of the sudden, the player can be spoiled for choice with the sheer level of customization when it comes to Geralt’s augments and movesets.
Of course, there’s always a balanced option for people who still want a decent level of challenge with this game.
5 Auto Apply Oils
While the idea of using oils to fight certain enemies can seem rather strategic and interesting, one has to admit that going through the entire process of heading to the menu and selecting the appropriate oil to use can prove to be somewhat cumbersome after a point.
With the Auto Apply Oils mod, this headache is completely negated. This mod scans the enemies around Geralt when he gets into combat and automatically applies the appropriate oils to tackle this situation.
4 Indestructible Items — No More Weapon Degradation
Weapon durability is something that has been a major topic of contention in The Witcher 3, with most people wholeheartedly agreeing that — barring a few games like Breath of the Wild — the mechanic of weapon durability doesn’t really accomplish anything and ends up being a complete headache, as a result.
So, for people who want to enjoy The Witcher 3 without their experience being hampered by needless mechanics, this mod is an absolute must-have.
3 Over 9000 — Weight Limit Mod
Another annoying mechanic in video games that ultimately ends up being a headache of sorts is having a weight limit. While this mechanic may prevent unnecessary hoarding and amassing a quick fortune, it definitely comes at the cost of being a major annoyance when the player is roaming the landscape freely but is immediately stopped in their tracks since they’ve exceeded the weight limit.
Thankfully, with the Over 9000 — Weight Limit mod, players can now explore the rich world of The Witcher 3 without having to worry about being over-encumbered in the slightest.
2 Lore-Friendly Witchers
The Witcher series generally does a great job of adhering to the lore and rules of the world set by its author, Andrzej Sapkowski. However, the game is somewhat guilty for beautifying most of the characters in the game in order to make them look more pleasing to the eye… especially when it comes to the Witchers.
By installing Lore-Friendly Witchers, players will be able to finally look at Geralt and the rest of the Witchers in the manner that they were intended. It’s a small change, but a welcome one regardless.
1 The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project
Given the incredible graphics of The Witcher 3, one would assume that the game doesn’t really need a visual upgrade at all. However, one look at The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project will prove just how much untapped potential the world of The Witcher 3 still has.
People with great rigs who can handle the graphical requirements of this mod will be able to enjoy The Witcher 3 with what is essentially the freshest coat of paint one can apply to the graphics.
