There are hundreds of incredible quests in World of Warcraft Classic. One of the most memorable is the Fordring questline. What begins as a typical quest with menial tasks ends in dramatic fashion.
The In Dreams quest has to be one of the best storylines in World of Warcraft. However, before players can get to the quest, they need to complete a few other steps. The first step is finding Tirion, who appears to be an ordinary man.
6 Finding Tirion Fordring
Players will first need to locate and initiate the quest. While in the Eastern Plaguelands, players should travel to the Thondroril River and follow it to the North. Eventually players will notice a man and a horse next to a small house. The npc’s name is Tirion Fordring. At first players will have to complete a set of mundane tasks. However, the questline will get interesting after completing the first three quests. Gamers will be able to find the Carrion grubs, Plaguebats, and Plaguehounds/Frenzied Plaguehounds just to the north of Tirion’s house.
5 The Tale Of Tirion Fordring
After completing the three initial quests, Tirion will reveal his true identity. In short, Tirion was banished from the Alliance and forced leave his only child and wife. In a cruel twist of fate, his son Taelan joined the Scarlet Crusade, described as an aberration of the Order of the Silver Hand. Players are then tasked with convincing Taelan to leave the Scarlet Crusade.
4 On Forgotten Memories
The next step in the quest will take players to the Undercroft where they will need to recover Tirion’s hammer. The hammer is located in the dirt pile next to Tirion’s “grave.” When players attempt to search the grave, four enemies will appear. The crypt robbers can be tricky to fight, so gamers may want some help on this task. Once defeated, Mercutio Filthgorger will drop the hammer. Gamers will then need to return to Tirion.
Next players will need to travel to Northdale and recover Taelan’s lost honor. It can be found in one of the lakes in Nothdale next to a locked chest. After returning the lost honor, Tirion will instruct players to seek out a family portrait in Caer Darrow. After crossing the bridge in Caer Darrow, players should take an immediate left and follow the path until they reach what appears to be two abandoned buildings. In the house on the right, gamers will discover a female ghost. The ghost is none other than Renfrey, the artist that drew the portrait of Tirion and his family.
3 Of Love And Family
The questline begins to get more difficult once Renfrey instructs players to travel to Stratholme, where the painting is located. Gamers will have to invade the Scarlet Citadel and make it to the final room of the dungeon. Instead of following the carpet and going right in the last room, players should head into the room on the left. After entering, players need turn to the right and click on the portrait of two moons. The portrait will give players the Of Love And Family quest item. Again, gamers need to return to Tirion for the next steps in the quest.
2 In Dreams
Tirion will instruct players to find Myranda The Hag in order to get the items to Taelan. Players will find Myranda in Sorrow Hill, which is south of Andorhal. Myranda will transform characters into a scarlet soldier. Next, players can stroll into Hearthglen in disguise. Gamers should then proceed into Mardenholde Keep and speak with Taelan. After inspecing the artifacts, Taelan will attack and kill four of his bodyguards. Taelan will come to his senses, and players need to help him fight through the Scarlet Sentinels and exit the castle. Players should let Taelan do most of the fighting, as he has a ton of health.
1 Fighting Isillien
While leaving Hearthglen, Taelan will encounter Isillien, who is tasked with killing Taelan. Isillien and his guards will fight Taelan one by one. At the end of the fight, Isillien will kill Taelan. Sadly, players will not be able to help Taelan during the fight. After he is killed, Isillien will go after players, who will have to fight back. Players can kite the enemy around if playing solo, or take him down with friends. Just after the fight ensures, Tirion Fordring will appear. Once Tirion appears, Isillien will focus on fighting him. Gamers will be able to pile on damage and defeat Isillien with Tirion’s help. After speaking with Tirion, he will offer several rewards to choose from:
- Mark Of Fordring
- Ornate Adamantium Breastplate
- Shroud of the Exile
- Shimmering Platinum Warhammer
- Fordring’s Seal
Each of the rewards is useful for a certain class, and players will have at least one item they can equip in game. The Fordring questline is an amazing story that begins with simple tasks and ends with an epic battle between former rivals. The quest is a tale of intrigue, tragedy, and redemption. It may take several hours to complete every step in the questline, but gamers will not regret it. In World of Warcraft lore, Tirion reclaims his title as the Highlord of the Order of the Silver Hand. Later in the storyline, Tirion goes on to defeats the Lich King himself. The Fordring questline will give players a reminder of how impactful storytelling in video games can be.
