Enter the Gungeon is a roguelike video game that has been released on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia. In the game, the player controls one of four adventurers as they enter the — that’s right — Gungeon, trying to find a time machine to go back and kill their past self. The Gungeon itself is a dungeon that follows the theme of guns and other firearms.
The player will get Items throughout their descent into the Gungeon. They will find some in chests, pick them up as drops from bosses upon death, buy them from shops, or receive them by NPCs. These items can be either Passive, used like upgrades or equipment, or Active, used like abilities that need recharging.
10 The Meatbun
“A delicious, freshly baked roll! Sometimes, things just work out.”
Meatbun is an Active Item with the rank of D-Tier and flavor text: “On A Roll.” If the player uses the Meatbun, they will be healed a single heart. But more importantly, the player will deal double damage until they are hit. So, as long as the player keeps dodging, they will be a powerhouse in the Gungeon. It may only be used once.
9 The Decoy
“Most inhabitants of the Gungeon are not the most intelligent of creatures and will fire upon anything that they do not recognize. This crude facsimile of a Gungeoneer will hold their attention for a time. Many Gundead seems content to lock trespassers up in cells, despite their trigger-happy natures. Somewhere deep in the Gungeon, there is probably a prison full of Decoys.”
Decoy is an Active Item with the rank of D-Tier and flavor text: “Get Him!” If the player uses the Decoy, a dummy will be placed that enemies will target. It will be destroyed after taking enough damage. Also, they can use the Decoy to distract people and steal from shops.
8 The Double Vision
“The favored brew of Two-Shot Erias. During her time in the Gungeon, she claimed that drinking before a gunfight would double her effectiveness in combat, but for obvious reasons was not taken too seriously. Perhaps there was some truth in her tales.”
Double Vision is an Active Item with the rank of D-Tier and flavor text: “One For Each Of You.” If the player uses the Double Vision, the amount of bullets they fire is doubled for 10 seconds. Although the accuracy of the player’s bullets is reduced, the potential for damage output is tremendous.
7 The Singularity
“First pioneered by the Hegemony of Man during the Ten Days’ War, the Portable Star Crusher was deemed too dangerous for broad deployment.”
Singularity is an Active Item with the rank of C-Tier and flavor text: “Sucks.” If the player uses the Singularity, a black hole will spawn for eight seconds that sucks enemies, bullets, and items into it. The enemies will take damage and the bullets will be destroyed.
6 The Big Boy
“Nuclear arms were forbidden by the Third Interstellar Armistice, but as large sections of the Gungeon existed before that accord was signed, it is a bit of a grey area legally.”
Big Boy is an Active Item with the rank of B-Tier and flavor text: “Set The World On Fire.” If the player uses the Big Boy, a missile plummets down to the ground wherever the crosshair is pointed, causing an explosion that inflicts 150 damage to enemies. It also clears all bullets in the radius and leaves behind a pool of poisonous liquid. Additionally, those hit with the blast will transform into Mutant Bullet Kin.
5 The Orange
“With this orange, your style… it’s impetuous. Your defense, impregnable.”
Orange is an Active Item with the rank of B-Tier and flavor text: “You’re Not Alexander.” If the player uses the Orange, they restore all their health and get a heart container. It may only be used once. While it may seem like a simple, perhaps underwhelming Item, the Orange will save the player’s life in a bind (and possibly the entire run).
4 The Spice
“A potent gun-enhancing drug from the far reaches of the galaxy. It is known to be extremely addictive, and extremely expensive.”
Spice is an Active Item with the rank of A-Tier and flavor text: “A tantalizing cube of power.” If the player uses the Spice (the first time), they get a heart container, 20 percent more speed, and 25 percent less shot spread. The second time it is used, the player gets a heart container, enemy bullets are slowed down by 10 percent, and firing speed goes up by 20 percent. The third time Spice is used, they lose a heart container, enemy bullets are slowed down by 5 percent, their damage goes up by 20 percent. The fourth time it is used, the player loses a heart container, their damage goes up by 15 percent, and shot spread goes up by 10 percent. The fifth (and final) time Spice is used, they lose a heart container, their damage goes up by 15 percent, and shot spread goes up by 10 percent.
The thing is, despite the incredible bonuses, every time it is used the player has a chance to be Cursed and have their items replaced with more Spice.
3 The Duct Tape
“It isn’t pretty, but sometimes wondrous things can be accomplished with a roll of tape. Just look at the Bundle of Wands, or the Magitek Hybrid!”
Duct Tape is an Active Item with the rank of A-Tier and flavor text: “Friend Of Gunsmiths.” If the player uses the Duct Tape, they can combine two of their guns into one. (Single-use, of course.) The second gun will fire the projects of the first gun, in addition to its own original projectiles.
2 The Partially-Eaten Cheese
“Aged in an old arcade cabinet for decades, this cheese has become something of a delicacy, but only to those with refined palates.”
Partially-Eaten Cheese is an Active Item with the rank of A-Tier and flavor text: “Aged Almost 40 Years.” If the player uses the Partially-Eaten Cheese, they will become Pac-Man for 10 seconds. While in Pac-Man mode, the player is invincible, being able to fly and instantly kill any and all enemies they touch (or, eat). On top of that, they can still shoot their gun. (Bosses take 30 damage instead of being consumed entirely to death.)
1 The Relodestone
“The molecules in this rare piece of stone are naturally aligned such that all of their bullets face the same direction.”
Relodestone is an Active Item with the rank of S-Tier and flavor text: “Magunetic North.” If the player uses the Relodestone, a node will be placed on the ground that will attract bullets for six seconds and convert them into ammo. Also, reload time is halved while it is active. The best use for the Relodestone is during boss fights while firing catastrophic weapons.
