As popular as Apex Legends is, fans of Respawn’s previous work on the Titanfall games have been hoping for not just a new entry but to see more gameplay elements of Titanfall be added to Apex Legends. It’s long been established that both Titanfall and Apex Legends exist in the same universe and the latter has referenced the former through story and worldbuilding, but the dream is to see actual Titans be added to the game. In the past, Respawn has shut the idea down, but something may have changed if this newest set of leaks is to be believed.
It’s been rumored for a while that one Kuben Blisk will be added to Apex Legends as a future playable character. Blisk is not only the founder of the Apex Games, the competition that acts as the main focus of the battle royale, but also one of the main antagonists from Titanfall 2, which took place before Apex Legends. If he was to be made playable, it stands to reason that he would have Titanfall-related abilities, which he does according to the leak.
Insider TheNeon_Beast was the first to leak info, sharing in-game images of a character (presumably Blisk) summoning a Titan (one of the giant mechs from Titanfall). There is even text for a button prompt that reads “Call in Auto-Titan.” Dataminer Biast12 followed this up with actual footage of the ability in action from the Nintendo Switch version, with a Titan dropping from the sky and automatically firing its gun. This would mean that players can’t actually take control of a Titan itself and it instead acts as a temporary assist.
While these leaks obviously can’t be considered official information, both of them are pretty much identical to each other and the footage appears to be genuine. Plus, Dexerto reports that it has been informed that the footage allegedly comes from a test build of the game.
Biast12 also shared an image detailing Blisk’s abilities. His Ultimate is the Titan summon, called Standby For Titanfall (another direct reference to the series), while his Tactical is called My Ring, My Rules and lets him create a damaging zone. His Passive, Pilot Kit, not only lets him hack Survey Beacons (which also confirms him as a Recon class character) but it lets him wall run as well. Again, this makes sense since that was a key ability from Titanfall, but much like the Titans, this was something Respawn previously said would never happen in Apex Legends.
If these leaks are accurate, it either means Respawn has since changed its mind on incorporating Titans and wall-running or it has been deliberately misleading fans so it could surprise them later. Either way, Season 9 could be a very exciting time for players, assuming that is when Blisk is added to the game.
Apex Legends is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
