Monster Hunter Rise: Where to Find Endemic Life in Shrine Ruins

Endemic life plays a prominent role in Monster Hunter Rise. These small creatures are scattered throughout the landscape and Capcom decided to make endemic life a vital resource that gamers can utilize to create traps, as well as apply buffs and de-buffs.

Monster Hunter Rise players will need to track down the small critters to have an advantage in high-level monster fights. While there is only a small sample size from the demo, this article will cover all of the endemic life locations in the Shrine Ruins. This guide will also explain the different endemic life effects to give players an advantage.

The Shrine Ruins map was released in January with the Rise Demo 2.0, giving gamers a few new creatures to discover. Each time players spawn in, most of the endemic life will be located in the same spots of the map. The critters may wander a little, but the indicators on the map are usually spot on. The new and more detailed map in Rise makes hunting down the new creatures much easier, but it still can be difficult to pin down their exact locations because of the verticality of the maps.

These incredible little fireflies allow gamers to grapple across the map without a hook. Hunters that use the Wirebug ability will feel like Spider-Man, swinging across the vast expanses. The bugs are an incredible addition to the game because they make traversing the many hills and mountains on the maps much easier. Luckily, they spawn in a ton of different locations across the Shrine Ruins. Each location is included below:

  • In the camp behind the tent on the south end of the map.
  • In zone two on one of the ledges to the right of the waterfall.
  • At the top of the cliffs in zone two.
  • To the south of zone six on the ledge at the top of the waterfall on the east side of the river.
  • On the cliffs north of the 5 on the map. This Wirebug will vault players to another Wirebug, and then on top of the mountain in zone 5.
  • Next to the village just north of zone 7. Players will be flung right next to another Wirebug just a few steps to the west.
  • There are several Wirebugs along the river between zone 6 and zone 13.
  • Right above the 1 in zone 10 there is a Wirebug that will launch players up the cliffside.
  • On the cliff to the east of zone 13.
  • Just above the 9 on the map, there are a trio of Wirebugs.
  • Right above zone 4 on the map, there are a line of Wirebugs that will fling players up the cliffs one by one.

While players will see more Wirebugs than anything else, there are several other species of endemic life in the area for players to collect. Hunters can use the below list to find all of the endemic creatures discovered thus far. Gamers that are having trouble finding any of these creatures should inspect their map, which will reveal their approximate location.

  • Antidobra: By the waterfall between zones 2 and 6.
  • Stinkmink: On the cliffs to the west of zone 1 and in the forest to the west of zone 4.
  • Escuregot: Head west on the cliff from the Stinkmink.
  • Snowbeetle: On the cliffs to the west of zone 3.
  • Firebeetle: At the top of the mountain between zones 1 and 2.
  • Wailnard: Near the cliffs to the southwest of zone 7.
  • Blastoad: Follow the path to the north up the cliff from zone 9.
  • Poisontoad: Near the river south of zone 13.
  • Brewhare: On the cliffs to the southwest of zone 12.
  • Trapbugs: Next to the stone structure just to the right of the 1 on the map and on the cliffs west of zone 7.
  • Mudbeetle: By the 1 in zone 10.
  • Thunderbeetle: In the center of zone 9.
  • Puppet Spider: On the cliffs to the west of zone 5.

Gamers may spot a few different species of endemic life seeking refuge in the bushes scattered throughout the ruins. It is not extremely common, but looking in some of the bushes may pay off.

Each type of endemic life will provide a special ability, including buffs, de-buffs, traps, and blights. For example, the cute little Puppet Spider allows gamers to fashion a mount without using silk. The Brewhare provides buffs to certain items, including potions, making the effects last several times longer. A funny example is the Stinkmink. If players use the critter, it will attract any monsters nearby, who are probably not too impressed with the smell. The Wailnard has a similar effect, drawing multiple large monsters toward it.

Not surprisingly, Trapbugs will create a small area of effect trap that can be placed to damage monsters. The Escuregot will provide a healing area of effect for the player when it is placed. The Antidobra is, of course, an antidote that cures any poison a hunter may be suffering from. Each of the beetles hunters discover can be thrown at monsters, dealing a small amount of damage. The beetles will all deal different status afflictions on the monster as well.

Monster Hunter Rise is now available for the Nintendo Switch and a PC port is expected for early 2022.
