Monster Hunter Rise: How to Unlock All Switch Skills | Game Rant

Monster Hunter Rise tasks the player to take down a new cast of powerful monsters in the newest installment in the series. Like older games, there are certain combat moves in Monster Hunter Rise, and the new Switch Skills will be ideal for dealing massive amounts of damage to enemies.

At the moment, there are 84 total Switch Skills, six for each weapon type in Monster Hunter Rise. Switch Skills are important for players because it allows for them to adapt to different playstyles regardless of which weapon they are using.

While some are easy to find and are given to the player, others require facing off against tough bosses and specific crafting needs. So for Monster Hunter Rise fans looking to master all the different types of weapons, here are the different methods for getting each skill.

First, the game starts gamers off with three skills per weapon, which could be considered the default moves. Most of these have already existed in previous games, such as Monster Hunter World, so these should serve as great familiar introductions to the rest of the game’s mechanics.

To gather the second batch of skills, players must go through the Village and Hub Quests until they reach four-star quests and complete their first Rampage quest in Monster Hunter Rise, and then Master Utsushi will want to speak to them. From there, he will give all the new techniques, one for each weapon type, to the gamer in their Item Box to try out.

From there, Master Utsushi will give gamers a batch of Gathering Hub quests in Monster Hunter Rise that needs to be completed to unlock specific skills. These all have varying difficulties from four to six stars, and luckily gamers don’t need to complete the mission with the specific weapon type. So here is the full list of these quests and their respective difficulty:

  • Learning the Light Bowgun: Four Stars
  • Study the Switch Axe: Four Stars
  • Honing Your Hunting Horn: Four Stars
  • Study the Sword & Shield: Four Stars
  • Hone Your Heavy Bowgun: Five Stars
  • Charge Blade Coalescing: Five Stars
  • Learn the Lance: Five Stars
  • Honing Your Hammer: Five Stars
  • Grasp the Great Sword: Five Stars
  • Be One with the Bow: Six Stars
  • Invoke the Insect Glaive: Six Stars
  • Grasp the Gunlance: Six Stars
  • Dissect the Dual Blades: Six Stars
  • Learn the Long Sword: Six Stars

Lastly, the next group of skills can only be earned by crafting and upgrading the specific weapon type. As long as players are spending resources on improving their weapons, they should receive a notification each time a new Switch Skill is unlocked. Unfortunately, this process will have to be done for each weapon in the game, so some tedious grinding is going to be mandatory. However, if gamers focus on crafting multiple weapons up to around level four, the skill for the tree should unlock. Hopefully, this Monster Hunter Rise guide proves helpful for gamers needing to plan out their next steps to mastering the game.

Monster Hunter Rise is currently available on Nintendo Switch, with a PC version coming in 2022.
