As with other holidays both big and small, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can find some special items if they sign in on or before April Fools Day. Fitting with the theme of lighthearted pranking, Animal Crossing: New Horizons can obtain a series of whoopee cushions over the next few days.
From now until April 1 ends, players will find a different whoopee cushion every day inside Nook Shopping. There will be three color variants, with one appearing inside the Seasonal section of the Special Goods tab every day. The color options are green, yellow, and red, and each cushion will only cost players the small price of 400 Bells. Each boasts the same pattern of a checkered circle with a speaker in the center, likely meant to warn Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans that they are going to be pranked.
As shown by Twitter user @Kevknez, the cushion works exactly like one would expect, as players that plop down onto the cushion will let out a fart. There are three different variations of the farting noise as well, all of which are shown off in the clip. A quiet toot, quick fart, and long fart can all be heard as the player sits down on the item. Clearly entertained by the noises, the Twitter user plans to replace every chair on their Animal Crossing: New Horizons island with the cushions.
April will be a big month for seasonal item additions, as the Able Sisters’ shop will be packed with special Prom outfits for the entirety of the month. A Forsythia bush will be arriving in the shop and can be purchased from April 1 to April 10, allowing players to decorate their islands for the South Korean holiday Singmogil. A special globe will be available for Earth Day as well, which can be purchased from April 15 to 22. With Bunny Day items also available from March 28 to April 4, players have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks.
While none of these items may satisfy players in the same way as the three whoopee cushions, the fact that all of them can be purchased easily is a positive. After all, with the Sanrio-themed Animal Crossing: New Horizons items selling out at Target stores throughout America, fans of the game have recently been reminded that not every item is easy to obtain. While players may not be able to get access to the Hello Kitty content or special villagers, they should find solace in the fact that they can safely obtain the upcoming Seasonal content.
For those not interested in pranking their friends, though, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will also be getting a new lineup of fish, bugs, and sea creatures come April. As such, having nets and rods at the ready could prove just as beneficial as preparing a bunch of Bells.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Switch.
