Remnant: From The Ashes: 10 Things Most Players Missed In Rhom

Rhom is a desolate and sad world the player visits in Remnant: From The Ashes a few times for various reasons. The world paints a picture of a society that might’ve had it all in the past, only to have nothing to show for it after the Root took over in conquest.

Hidden in Rhom’s wastelands is an abundance of loot, weapons, armor, and secrets waiting for players to find them. There are a lot of dungeons with hidden rewards and optional boss fights that are difficult to find, so it’s important to keep a keen eye out for everything Rhom has to offer.

10 Wastelander Flail

The Wastelander Flail is an item that can only be obtained from an event in Rhom called the Clean Room. It’s a unique event in which players will receive a debuff of damage over time. The only way to counteract this is to kill enemies which heals the player momentarily. Completing the event rewards the player with the Wastelander Flail. The flail has a particularly strong charge attack, so for players who like big, slow, wind-up attacks, it’s the perfect choice.

9 Ezlan’s Band

To find Ezlan’s Band, players just have to travel to the monolith checkpoint of Rhom. After arriving, travel straight towards the town and climb the stairs of the first house on the left. Upon climbing the stairs, players should follow the path until they reach a doorway on the left which has a burnt corpse in the middle of it. Ezlan’s Band can be found on the corpse, waiting to be discovered. The band can increase health by 25 and improve regeneration by a solid 3%. It’s an interesting ring because of its name and ability both being related to the Undying King, but it’s found on a seemingly random body.

8 Akari Armor

For players who enjoy being light on their feet and quick to evade enemy attacks, the Akari Armor is the way to go. This armor set increases a player’s evasion window, and rewards them for dodging well. When a perfect dodge is executed, players get increased firing, reload, melee, and evasion speed for 20 seconds. It’s a niche armor set but can be very enjoyable for some players.

To find this armor set, players will have to collect Glowing Rods in Rhom. Completing dungeons in the Vault of the Herald event grants these Glowing Rods so if players are lucky, they should only have to complete a dungeon twice but on average, three times. Glowing Rods can also be found anywhere in Rhom if the Vault has spawned so keep that in mind as well. Once players have 3 Golden Rods, they can redeem them at the Vaults, one piece of armor for one rod.

7 Void Armor

To obtain the Void Armor set, players have to complete a floor tile puzzle before they can purchase it at the Monolith in Rhom. The puzzle involves glyphs and tiles that players have to navigate around to progress properly. The back of the tower shows four symbols, each corresponding to a cardinal direction, with North being towards the Monolith. Players have to progress across the tiles in the order described by the tower, and press the tiles down to replicate the pattern. It’s clear when players make a correct choice because the tiles will stay pressed down until a wrong one is pressed or the puzzle is completed.

After finishing the puzzle, go to the Monolith and buy the armor for 2500 scrap. Void Armor improves damage output while also reducing damage intake, making it good for offense and defense.

6 Osseous Armor

This set of armor is only attainable after players buy all Wud’s secrets. The Osseous Armor is great for offensive players who like to lean into their enemies when attacking. Bonuses granted by the armor include increased damage for subsequent hits and improved fire rate.

What’s especially great about this set is that it improves all damage based on subsequent attacks, which encourages long combos on enemies without taking a break. This includes melee attacks, mod damage, and even summon damage. The buff is pretty powerful in certain builds and since the armor increases melee rate as well, melee builds can benefit from using the Osseous set.

5 Beam Rifle

Getting the Beam Rifle can pose quite the challenge. To find it, players can teleport to the Monolith checkpoint and then cross the courtyard to a dilapidated building. After progressing through the building and into a temple of sorts, players will have to navigate through corridors until they find a door. The door is tricky to figure out, but usually, players just have to climb up some scaffolding and press a button to make the door work.

Pressing the button and opening the door starts the Lost Gantry event, which triggers waves of enemies to attack. Clearing these enemies is the only way to unlock the Beam Rifle. The Beam Rifle is a unique long gun that actually stacks damage buffs the longer it’s fired, meaning sustained fire will deal a lot of damage on stationary or slow-moving enemies.

4 The Harrow Loot

The Harrow is the boss right before players can access the Undying King. His alternative kill is interesting and the loot he drops is important to take note of depending on what build players are going for. If he’s killed normally, he drops a Thermal Geode which can be used for crafting and upgrading certain items.

To get his alternative kill, players must aim at his legs mostly, avoiding dealing damage above his waist. After a good amount of this, he falls to the ground, and players can get around to his back where he’s vulnerable. An interact prompt will appear and players will take a weapon out of his back, which turns out to be the Lost Harpoon. This weapon deals radiation damage and has good range with a short cooldown.

3 The Black Sun

Throughout Rhom, there’re underground tunnels, wires racing up buildings, and strange contraptions scattered along the pathways. These pieces of technology represent the rise of an empire as well as its fall, all in one. These contraptions are remnants left behind from Rhom’s old society before the Cataclysm of inventions powered by Black Sun Dust.

The Black Sun Dust propelled the people of Rhom into a golden age of technology and peace, which is why it’s so prominent even in the weapons the player gets a hold of on Rhom. The Undying King’s immortality is another product of the dust, since he can consume it and bathe himself in it to replenish his life force. It’s possible that the over-reliance on the dust is what lead to the Cataclysm because the Black Sun itself is what was used to scorch the land and burn all life on the surface.

2 Houndmaster Secrets

The Houndmaster is an NPC in Remnant: From The Ashes who sells consumables and other items. Most players don’t know this, but he also has a secret consumable that can only be found in his shop. To get the Houndmaster’s Jerky, players have to approach the fire closest to him on the side closest to the door and use up all of his dialogue options. Afterward, the jerky will be in the shop.

Players can also choose to attack the Houndmaster to initiate a boss fight with Maul. To make things easier, players can shoot at the Houndmaster’s head to break his control rod which will turn the pack against him, making the fight a bit quicker. Doing this makes it impossible to get certain mods though, so be careful.

1 The Cataclysm

When the player first arrives in the world of Rhom, its sands blow across the landscape, and the menacing remains of buildings and civilization look down on them. It’s a scene that obviously carries a lot of history, even if the game doesn’t straight up explain what happened to cause it. Based on item descriptions and certain dialogue options, it’s safe to assume that Rhom essentially pressed the self-destruct button on itself.

Without the Guardian to protect the people of Rhom from the root, the world was at risk and something needed to be done. Ezlan, the king, decided it would be wise to extinguish life from the face of the world to preserve the little that did survive against the Root. They’d been fighting a losing war for over 50 years, and something needed to be done. The dismal atmosphere and hopeless ambiance all make sense when the story of Rhom is taken into account.
