The ZRG 20mm may be joining the LW3 Tundra at the top of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War weapon tier lists, as the description Treyarch gives for the weapon makes it sound like an even better gun in specific situations. In the case of the ZRG 20mm, range is the name of the game, with Treyarch highlighting how it excels in this area via a Call of Duty Blog post. With several large-scale modes available, this should be a major benefit.
Not only should the sniper perform well in Outbreak mode and Call of Duty: Warzone, but it should succeed in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s new Fireteam map Golova as well. With multi-team Hardpoint making its first appearance in Golova, snipers should have no shortage of enemy players to gun down. Racking up these kills should prove easy enough for skilled sniper users, too, as the ZRG 20mm is a guaranteed one-shot kill to the head, chest, and shoulders.
According to Treyarch, the weapon also boasts best-in-class bullet velocity, ensuring that shots hit their targets fast. The weapon also has a very fast reload speed, meaning that the likely downsides of the ZRG 20mm are a slow rate of fire and poor handling speeds. As such, the new Sniper Rifle will likely be a high-skill weapon like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Crossbow — proving incredibly deadly in the right hands but useless in others.
For those looking to get their hands on the weapon, there will be a special weapon challenge to complete like other midseason weapons in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. No details have been specified on this challenge, however, meaning that players will need to check the task in-game tomorrow. If it resembles other challenges, it will require that players get a certain amount of kills or medals in numerous games. For players that want the weapon immediately, it can be instantly unlocked via the “Jackpot Sniper” bundle inside the shop, as players will get a fancy white and red blueprint for the gun.
With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s midseason update also adding new Zombies Onslaught content and bringing back Prop Hunt, there seems to be plenty to do in Season 2 Reloaded. With Season 3 less than a month away, though, players will be seeing even more additions made soon.
