Now that the newest installment to the series is here, Monster Hunter Rise has continued to develop on the core mechanics of the series to keep things interesting for long-time fans of the series. And while there are plenty of new awesome things to do in Monster Hunter Rise, returning fans can slowly adjust to the new game by hunting some enemies.
One of the many monsters in Monster Hunter Rise is the fanged wyvern creature known as the Zinogre. The Zinogre is a reoccurring creature in the series with electrical powers and tends to live in more mountainous areas. In this game, they can be found in the Shrine Ruins and Flooded Forest Habitats.
Zinogre is not the toughest enemy in the game, but it can be quite difficult for players who run into battle without a strategy. So for Monster Hunter Rise gamers looking for easy ways to hunt Zinogre, here is a guide on how to defeat it.
Zinogre’s main weakness is Ice elemental weapons, but water will also work as well. When attacking with weapons, their head, back, and hind legs will yield the most vulnerable places to attack. In terms of items in Monster Hunter Rise, the Pitfall trap, Flash Bomb, and Dung Bomb items are all going to be the most helpful to the player.
An important thing to know is that Zinogre will eat multiple Thunderbugs in the environment to enter a “supercharged” state that boosts their speed and attack power during hunts. This phase can be quite difficult, so gamers will need to knock the Zinogre out of this state by staggering them. The Longsword in Monster Hunter Rise is typically good for staggering enemies.
In total, a Zinogre has five main moves. Its classic move is a leg stomp attack where it slams a front leg on the ground. In the supercharged state, this attack will conduct electricity and throw players back, giving them the thunderblight effect. Zinogre can also summon a bolt of lightning to strike down from above. Gamers should watch for it howling in the air and quickly roll to the side to evade it.
Additionally, a Zinogre has a charge attack that starts by jumping backward and lunging at its prey. In that same realm, Zinogres will also try to body slam gamers by jumping high into the air. And when in the Supercharged state, Zinogre’s body slam will have a lightning AoE that will also inflict thunderblight status.
Lastly, a new move given to the Zinogre for this game is called “Tailryuken,” coined after the signature move used by Ryu from Super Street Fighter. Zinogre somersaults towards the opponent and uppercuts them with their tail, sending them flying in the air. The Zinogre will also try to trick players by pretending to attack with its leg stomp move instead.
Monster Hunter Rise is now available for the Nintendo Switch. A PC release is slated for 2022.
