Ghost of Tsushima fans were thrilled to find out that the game was being adapted into a live action movie. Unlike many other video game movie adaptations, this title is based in history and set in a real world location. There are also very few instances of monstrous creatures or anything that would require heavy CGI, meaning its odds look quite good from the outset. Although the executive roles on the film have already been shown, what actors will be brought on board remains a mystery. Recently though, the voice actor for Jin Sakai, Daisuke Tusji, made it very clear that he’d love to reprise his role.
Tsuji is the English voice of Jin in Ghost of Tsushima, but he also the face model and motion capture actor for the character. To say that Tsuji played a vital role in the creation of the game would be an understatement, so now fans are asking why the same shouldn’t hold true for the movie adaption.
Voice actor Bryan Dechart, whom fans may recognize from his roles as Connor in Detroit: Become Human or Brendan in Cyberpunk 2077, tweeted about the idea himself, tagging both Tsuji and PlayStation. In response, Tsuji said in no uncertain terms that he would be thrilled to play the role of Jin Sakai again, even going so far as to make a joke about how far he’d be willing to go in order to maintain the authenticity of the game in the live action movie.
Responding to Dechart’s tweet, Tsuji comments that he would “fully agree to doing butt nudity” in the live action version. This is of course a reference to the scenes in Ghost of Tsushima when Jin is entering or exiting a hot spring, something players will do numerous times in order to increase their maximum health. Every time this happens, players are treated to the sight of Jin’s nude butt, something that Tsuji has commented on before. Although it seems unlikely that this kind of thing would make it into the live action film, it’s just the kind of cheeky humor that players would expect to see from Tsuji.
At the moment there’s no word on who the actors will be for the game’s many characters, but some players are calling for multiple in game actors to reprise their role for the film. Ghost of Tsushima‘s characters match the appearances of their actors surprisingly well, so it would be very interesting to see the cast directly translated.
Ghost of Tsushima is available now on PS4.
