Call of Duty: Warzone Now Has Missiles Flying Over the Map

Something big appears to be going down in Call of Duty: Warzone, or at least that is the suspicion of the Call of Duty community. It has long been theorized that the Call of Duty: Warzone map Verdansk will be blown up with a nuke and replaced; perhaps with a 1980s-themed map to match the setting of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Now there appear to be missiles flying overhead in Call of Duty: Warzone, indicating that something is amiss.

Call of Duty: Warzone has been out for over a year, and fans have been playing on the same core map that whole time. The Rebirth Island map was also added late last year, but its small nature makes it so many go back to Verdansk for the standard Warzone gameplay. These missiles may be indicated impending doom for Verdansk.

The Twitter page ModernWarzone was instrumental in leaking information about Call of Duty: Warzone before the launch of the game, and it continues to share inside information on all things Call of Duty. Recently an image was posted from the page of a single missile flying overhead during a Warzone match. Apparently, some gamers thought they were jets, but the missiles kept coming, and it soon became more obvious.

One commenter submitted a video of his own interaction with the missiles, and it is very interesting. In their video, multiple missiles can be seen in one gameplay session, including two missiles flying overhead at one time. These missiles and nukes could be a literal game-changer to Call of Duty: Warzone.

Many are extremely excited about the idea of a new map coming to Call of Duty: Warzone. While the Rebirth Island map is refreshing, its smaller nature can make it more niche, and there are some who are interested in a truly huge new map. There are also rumors that a new map will be added to Call of Duty: Warzone in 2022, but this is mostly speculative from rumors and leakers.

While new content is thrilling to some, there are others who are frustrated with the ongoing and constant glitches in Call of Duty: Warzone. While there will always be bugs in an online game as a service type-setting, an argument can be made that Activision is biting off more than it can chew with so many Call of Duty titles at once, integration with multiple games, and a focus on new content over fixing game-breaking bugs, meanwhile cheaters run rampant and more. Perhaps a new map will distract players from the issues for a time.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
