Players Notice Strange Lag In Call of Duty: Warzone Around Popular Sniper Rifle

A Call of Duty: Warzone fan finds a new bug that can affect games in a rather unexpected manner. While each season and update brings a variety of issues, Call of Duty: Warzone’s developers patch an equal number of problems. Despite this, fans constantly find new bugs and glitches throughout the battle royale experience.

Call of Duty: Warzone has a variety of game modes depending on the season and active content cycle. Each of these modes can have new and interesting problems, but this is the first time a gun has affected the game’s FPS in such a dramatic manner. With Call of Duty: Warzone fans using the entire armory of options, it’s not surprising this bug was discovered sooner rather than later.

In a clip posted by Reddit user eggybread_, the player discovered a direct connection between the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Tundra Sniper Rifle and the game’s FPS. In the clip, the player is seen dropping into Verdansk and selecting a loadout. Due to the game being set to Plunder, the player is able to switch loadouts freely. Once they access the Tundra rifle, the game’s FPS quality drops to one FPS, resulting in the player hitting the ground. Once they switch to another weapon, the game speeds back up, allowing for a normal gameplay experience.

The bug seems to only affect the Tundra rifle, but fans are surprised this would appear after a major update. Call of Duty: Warzone is full of different bugs, but this is a new glitch for fans across all platforms. Although the extent of the bug is unknown, it is unusual that a rifle could slow down the game at such a dramatic rate.

Other players report a similar issue, but in their experience, it was not as dramatic as one FPS. The Call of Duty: Warzone sniper rifle caused multiple instances of players’ frame quality dropping well below 30, and in some cases the game would freeze for several seconds.

It is unknown what has caused the recent spike in bugs, but many fans are pointing the blame at an untested patch. While Call of Duty: Warzone’s developers may have tested the update before release, many fans are surprised such an obvious bug made it past any quality control. While there is not much players can do to solve this problem, fans are advised to avoid the Tundra rifle if they see their system is affected.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
