Cyberpunk 2077 already looks stunning in 4K, but one fan decided to push things further.
If you’ve been following Cyberpunk 2077 you’ll already know that developer CD Projekt Red likes to post new screenshots every once in a while on the game’s official site.
These are often stylised, and not always representative of in-game visuals. Nonetheless, they always look stunning, and we’ve been keeping up with updates whenever they’re posted. The screenshots are almost always in 4K, and often have a film grain filter.
Reddit user Compxs36 decided to experiment a little to see how much better they could look. The user ran them through the Waifu2x neural network to upscale them to 8K, and used the software’s de-noising feature to get rid of film grain.
The results are stunning. The lack of film grain together with the increase in resolution result in some incredibility sharp images. Some of the original shots benefit more from this technique than others. For example, images with characters in the foreground, and those without smog or haze see the biggest upgrade.
The shots are too big to include here in their original quality, so you best head over to Compxs36’s gallery to see, and download them.
Cyberpunk 2077 is out September 17.
