Don’t be alarmed if you see that your console is trying to download 84GB for Call of Duty: Warzone/Modern Warfare.
The big Season 4 patch for Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare went live earlier this morning, adding live events, a 50v50 mode, new multiplayer maps and more.
The patch’s official download size is already sizeable. At minimum, it’s a 32.5GB download on PS4, but can go up to 45GB on PC and Xbox One. Unfortunately, players on Xbox One have been reporting an even bigger download size, at a massive 84GB.
Activision Support confirmed it’s a bug being looked into, so you better hold off on downloading for a bit.
We’re actively investigating an issue for #ModernWarfare where some players on Xbox are seeing a larger than expected download size for today’s update. Stay tuned for updates

Even at 40-odd GB, today’s patch is still bigger than usual. That is because it’ll help reduce the size of future patches, and the general size of the game on your HDD.
PS4 and Xbox One players should only see a 4GB increase in the overall install size, so it seems to be a step in the right direction. Keep in mind that you can also uninstall things like Spec Ops to reduce the size even further, though only on consoles. For now, you can hit the link at the top for everything today’s patch introduced.
