Only a few short weeks remain before NBA 2K21 makes its way onto current-gen consoles, yet so far 2K Games hasn’t really shown much of it beyond a few gameplay teases earlier this month. Fortunately, fans won’t have long to wait to get a better taste, as 2K has announced that a demo for the game will be coming very soon.
As per this week’s announcement from 2K and developer Visual Concepts, said demo will be released for the PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One on August 24. That’s a little over a week before the game launches for those platforms (plus PC, Stadia, and mobile devices), so that should give players plenty of time to get an idea of what’s new this year.
Accompanying the demo’s announcement was a post on the official NBA 2K21 website that describes the improvements Visual Concepts is bringing to the game. While the post goes into a fair amount of detail, the game’s Twitter sums up the improvements as so:
- Pro Stick Shooting upgrade
- 40 new Jump Shot Landings
- Overhauled dribble moves
- 50 new Size-Ups
- No more Quick Draw badge
- 6’8″ PGs in MyCAREER
Presently, there’s no word on whether the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game will also receive a demo at some point. A lot of fans haven’t been excited with the fact that NBA 2K21 will cost $10 more on next-gen consoles, so a free demo would go a long way towards helping them decide if the next-gen version’s worth the extra money.
NBA 2K21 will launch on September 4 for Mobile, PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions to follow.
